The Team

The Emerging Technology & Platform Engineering team plays a critical role in enabling Enterprise Technology to deliver its mission to bring innovation and value to the Bank with confidence and reliability, by acting as a catalyst for Data Governance across the division.

The Role

The Lead Platform Engineer will play an active role on the team by collaboratively maintaining Collibra DGC and its various components used by the Enterprise Data Office team. Part of a strategic and comprehensive Data Operations function, you will ensure controlled implementation of Collibra DGC in accordance with best practices, product owner expectations, scalable integration with other bank systems.

Some of the key accountabilities include:

  • Responsible for commissioning the Collibra environment for Dev, QA, Pre-prod and Prod, either individually or by working with appropriate BNS infrastructure team
  • Develop environment scripts and configurations
  • Work with Scotiabank infrastructure framework for DevOps
  • Define and support the deployment of solution across environments
  • Support environment management by working with the full implementation team
  • Configure and implement environment and infrastructure solution for Collibra by working with the Tech Lead and specified architecture and designs  

 

What You Will Bring to Succeed

  • Experience in installation, configuration and maintenance of a variety of technologies including - Collibra DGC, Collibra Connect, Mulesoft, Activiti, JDBC, Java, and SQL to name a few.
  • Experience in Data Governance of wide variety of data types (structured, semi-structured and unstructured data) and wide variety of data sources (HDFS, S3, Kafka, Cassandra, Hive, HBase, Elasticsearch)
  • Experience with cloud VMs and server-side scripting as well as operations best practices and maintenance.
  • Experience with data formats such as XML CSV and JSON
  • Experience in Collibra Connect custom integrations for data ingestion (Data Service Agreements, Data Elements, Data Quality Controls, Data Quality Results) into Collibra; and Collibra Integration solutions with downstream applications and databases;
  • Diploma / degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years IT development and support
  • Ability to convert/translate requirements into design specifications.
  • Dedicated, self-motivated, a team player with excellent written and oral communication skills
