The Team
Contributes to the overall success of the Canadian Data Platforms team in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Lead and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Provide technical analyses and recommendations in terms of new solutions and supporting existing ones, with a focus on creating robust and reusable solutions.
- Assess the systems architecture currently in place and working with technical staff to recommend solutions to improve it. Work towards improving stability and decreasing vulnerabilities across the platform.
- Create and maintain documentation, such as architectural diagrams and best practices documents.
- Mentor team members to increase their knowledge and technical abilities.
- Manage the execution of day-to-day project-oriented work efforts and meeting customer expectations for contracted time, cost and specifications definitions. Reviewing requirements, estimating work effort on new initiatives, develop design documents (GDD) as well as File specs.
- Build and maintain strong working relationship with peers within the business unit and with business partners
- Responsible for assembling project plans and teamwork assignments, directing and monitoring work efforts, identifying resource needs, performing quality review while ensuring Bank standards are being adhered to.
- Provide expert advice to Business Partner and/or IT areas, and IT project teams.
- Operationalize technical and managerial processes and supervises the development and maintenance of business support systems.
- Review and approve Production ready deployment.
- Facilitate problem resolution when production problems occur.
- Ability to contribute in Agile environments with understanding of its methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and its tools (Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps).
- Work well independently & as part of a team; experience working with remote teams.
- Possess excellent technical presentation and communication skills.
- Desire of continuous learning to keep up with new technological innovations.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, privacy and compliance

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or technical equivalent
- Must have at least 5 years of experience with working knowledge of AIX / Unix systems,
- 5+ years with Databases (DB2, Oracle, etc), Windows,
- 5+ years with ETL systems (Talend, iWay, Datastage, etc)

Strong analytical thinking and organizational capabilities.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Deep understanding of code quality practices, including code reviews

Well-versed in Agile development methodologies.
