The Lab Lead acts as the principal technical and subject matter expert for their assigned category of modules and tools in Scotia Service Now.  They lead a team of developers, Business Analysts and Quality Assurance Testers, and partner with their assigned Product Owner(s) to deliver on business requirements in an agile and effective manner.  In doing so they assure that all technology delivered is resilient, sustainable, secure and provides an excellent employee experience. 
 

 


Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Works closely with the product owner and technical navigator to build backlog, sprint plans and roadmaps.
  • Supports the technical navigator to ensure all lab ceremonies are conducted to provide necessary feedback loops.
  • Lab tech lead. Providing coaching, guidance, and direction on technical design and solutions
  • As senior developer, develops and configures solutions on ServiceNow including workflows, integrations, scripts, and UIs in accordance with SMT development and architecture standards.  
  • Conducts vendor governance in the lab by ensuring lab vets vendor requirements, solution and code against Service Management Technology design principles, Scotiabank Reference Architecture and SMT Coding standards.
  • Provides effort estimates, timing recommendations as relates to projects, provides technical leadership for projects in their domain and oversees vendor work.
  • Engages with architecture to design great solutions and ensures technical documentation is maintained. 
  • Coordinates with other labs and their domain leads to ensure dependencies are considered and resolved.
  • Coordinates L2/L3 support and support for platform upgrades as relates to their applications/ modules/ components.  This includes engaging in and leading any incident management related to their space.
  • Develops and maintains deep expertise on their functional area, both in terms of policy (e.g., ITIL) and tooling (ServiceNow certifications). Provides their product owner with insights for useful new features.
  • Work to aggressively eliminate technical debt in the Scotia ServiceNow platform, and to build solutions that minimize customization and optimize for speed and optimal user experience.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. 
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.

 

 


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Computer Science Diploma or Degree; or related work experience, excellent JavaScript skills.
  • ITIL Foundation certification or training.
  • ServiceNow Advanced System Administrator certified. ServiceNow Scripting certification a plus.
  • 3 - 5 years of ServiceNow Experience within modules/applications (and ServiceNow in general).
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience and hands on development in general module configuration on the ServiceNow Platform.
  • Strong partnership and collaboration skills
  • An interest in leading people, and in developing coaching skills
