Insurance Service Advisor, Canadian Wealth Management

 

Purpose
The position is responsible for assisting insurance clients that are not assigned to a relationship manager,
providing in-force and new business policy support to licensed advisors and Branch Managers within an
assigned region. This role will also support segregated funds from a sales and service perspective to all
advisors nationally. 

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Acts as the main point of contact for National Branch licensed advisors in the assigned territory
    who have questions or require support related to their in-force policy management activities. This
    includes delivering training to advisors on accessing policy details within Centralize and best practices
    for servicing activities, reviewing statements and notices as they are distributed to the Agent of Record,
    flagging any policies that require attention, undertaking policy analysis, requesting in-force illustrations,
    and providing any necessary paperwork to advisors.
  • Proactively reviews a subset of in-force permanent life insurance policies at key milestones to
    identify any potential issues that may lead to future client concerns related to policy performance. This
    may include collaborating with advisors and SWIS colleagues to determine the best approach to
    address issues and mitigate any risks.
  • Identifies complex opportunities (UL/WL) to introduce an insurance consultant (IC) into an inforce policy when there may be new business potential, such as conversions or secondary sales. This
    includes proactively reviewing their in-force block of business (Term, CI, DI) for such opportunities and
    partnering with ICs in the corresponding region.
  • Provides segregated fund and GIA support to licensed advisors. This includes answering
    questions and providing guidance related to new sales and applications, redirecting advisors to
    segregated fund wholesalers, maintaining product details online, and managing segregated fund
    escalations and complaints.
  • Provides support to Scotia Wealth Insurance Services Inc., (SWIS) head office on client escalations
    and other special projects that help deliver on its national mandates.
  • Stays informed with industry changes relating to the sale of insurance products, with additional focus on
    segregated funds, GIA, and training requirements for new licensees.
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank
    relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities
    and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with
    Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the
    adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with
    respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You'll Bring: 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience within the life insurance industry coupled with a university degree
    (or equivalent education)
  • LLQP is a requirement
  • Will need to get life licensed in all provincial jurisdictions.
  • The Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and/or Certified Life Underwriter (CLU) designations are an
    asset
  • Experience working with permanent life insurance and working knowledge of insurance carrier
    illustrations, software and advisor portals is essential
  • Knowledge of the estate planning uses for life insurance including corporate owned life insurance
    strategies is essential
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with an ability to deal with sensitive and difficult client situations in
    a gracious and professional manner
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team
  • Readily embrace change and thrive in an ever-changing environment
  • Well organized, goal driven and action oriented
  • Demonstrates pro-activity, initiative and resourcefulness

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Windows and its applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
    and MS Outlook
  • Nice to Have - fluently bilingual

 

Work Arrangement: 

  • Work in a standard office-based environment.
