The role of the Infrastructure Architect Specialist operates within the Cloud Storage Engineering team. This valuable member of the team will be responsible for creating platform components and services for the broad enterprise use.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Designing and building scalable cloud infrastructure using a chosen cloud provider.
- Providing guidance and leadership on designing performance solutions within a cloud platform.
- Creating and managing automation so it becomes a repeatable, sustainable process.
- Designing applications and migrating them to the cloud.
- Providing guidance for placing cloud workloads in cloud IaaS and PaaS.
- Assessing applications used in the cloud, evaluating the hardware and software used, and designing and developing cloud systems and solutions.
- Create a well-informed cloud strategy and manage the adaption process.
- Providing guidance for different project teams to follow architectural strategies and guidelines.
- Develop technical reference architectures, patterns, and technical standards for different infrastructure domains.
- Experience in working with different vendors to evaluate multiple technologies and choose the best technology which is compatible to multiple clouds or on premises.
- Experience with Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL and Cloud SQL for SQL Server, Redis, On premises databases (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, db2 and others) design, architecture, security review, risk assessment and others.
- Experience creating infrastructure as code through Terraform HCL to manage resource lifecycles
- Designing, implementing, maintaining, optimizing, and documenting different types of database systems in on-premises and cloud environments.
- Experience in different IaaS, PaaS and SaaS services provided by multiple cloud providers like AWS/Azure/GCP/Oracle.
- Develop and implement DevOps architectures, including CI/CD pipelines, to streamline software development and deployment.
- Have proficiency in Dev ops tools like GitHub, Jenkins, Ansible, Artifactory and others.
- Have proficiency in Infrastructure as code using Terraform, Chef, helm, and others.
- Experience as the architecture review board member and chair to review the multiple projects from multiple line of businesses.
- Experienced working with teams to update architectural decisions, technical debts, road maps and strategies for their projects.
- Working with teams to add multiple technology products to standards catalog.
- Working with risk resiliency teams to define the DB architecture required to achieve the required RTO and RPO values.
- Working closely with multiple operational, engineering, and architectural teams to provide the guidance in their design and architecture for multiple projects.
- Analyze and troubleshoot architectural related issues in a timely fashion.
- Setup the cloud innovation zones and manage them.

Must Have:
- 5-10 years of experience with database technologies (SQL, Cloud SQL, MySQL, MongoDB, SQL Server, GCP/Azure Database Technologies)
- 5-10 years of hands-on technical working experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- 5-10 years of hands-on technical working experience with development languages (Go, Python, etc)
- 5-10 years of hands-on technical working experience with container-based technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- 5-10 years of hands-on technical working experience in the use of CI/CD Tools
- 5-10 years of hands-on technical working experience with config management tools and Scripting Languages (Ansible, Bash, Groovy)
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
Nice to Have:
- Bachelor (equivalent or higher) degree in computer science or engineering/mathematics discipline.
- Expertise and understanding of Cloud Native Platforms, particularly Kubernetes, and associated technologies
- Experience working with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.
- Full understanding of software development lifecycle and release process (container-native workflow for job orchestration, Git/GitOps, CI/CD, environments, code repositories).
- Understanding of different database technologies (e.g. Cloud SQL, NoSQL, Relational databases)
- Knowledge of software design patterns, and/or security considerations
- Focus on scalable, enterprise-level software system design (both on code and infrastructure levels)
- Passion for driving teams towards high performance and a deep pride in quality craftsmanship.
- High level Unix administration skills.
