The incumbent will be responsible for coaching and advising senior business leaders on all HR topics and talent strategies. The HRBP works with the leadership team to meet people aspects of business needs by deploying the frameworks, tools and guidelines created in the Communities of Expertise (CoEs) and leveraging HR Services’ delivery and insight capabilities. 

As a trusted business partner, the HRBP will leverage his/her knowledge of Human Resources and understanding of emerging issues and best practices to identify, develop, implement and drive innovative HR solutions for Digital Banking. This will include:

1. Develop, champion and deliver on short and long term people strategies in support of Digital's objectives by:
• Maintaining a solid understanding of Digital's annual objectives and strategies;
• Providing strategic planning and ongoing day-to-day support to the senior leadership team;
• Defining and developing corresponding HR tactics and innovative ideas to support business strategies ensuring that all actions fit with the overall HR goals and objectives of the Scotiabank group;
• Providing coaching and support on change management initiatives.

2. Act as an advisor to client groups by:
• Providing advice, guidance and/or coaching on sensitive confidential and complex HR issues;
• Monitoring current HR practices within Digital and ensuring alignment with Bank guidelines and values .
• Proactively providing leaders with information/updates on relevant issues.

3. Successfully implement corporate HR programs while ensuring effective two-way communication between client groups, policy groups, the COEs, HR Services and other Business Partner offices by:  
• Ensuring Digital’s leadership team is kept abreast of existing/new/changes to corporate policies and programs;
• Representing Digital's challenges/needs/concerns to policy groups and Shared Services and facilitating discussions to ensure effective resolution;
• Ensuring the seamless delivery of annual programs (i.e. Viewpoint, LRP, Compensation, etc);
• Proactively recommending changes to existing/historical practices to increase value-add to the client group.

4. Act as a member of the broader Scotiabank HR team by:
• Providing input and direction on overall HR issues and representing Digital's views on these issues;
• Participating in corporate driven projects as required; 
• Liaising with HR peers globally and openly sharing knowledge, ideas and opinions with other HRBPs, COEs and HR Services to ensure equitable treatment for employees, maximize efficiency and share successes.

5. Maintain an awareness of emerging trends and best practices in HR by:
• Liaising with HR peers, both within and outside of Scotiabank to ensure policies and procedures stay current and market competitive;
• Sharing information with peers when appropriate

6. Provide strong leadership to motivate individual and team performance by: 
• Negotiating and effectively communicating individual and team goals; 
• Sharing knowledge, experience and responsibilities when coaching employees to create a team environment and support increased learning;
• Motivating and contributing to the development of team performance in current job & for future opportunities;
• Recognizing team development needs and taking an active role in addressing gaps;
• Exhibiting self-awareness around one’s own impact on the team and adjusting leadership approach accordingly.

You’ll need to have:
• Strong understanding of how technology organizations are structured and operate 
• Results focused to identify and take action on issues that include recruitment, learning and development, career and leadership resource planning, performance management, total compensation plans and employee relations programs.
• Good understanding and awareness of strategic and tactical business planning and executional issues/processes.
• Strong business acumen to align both business objectives and HR strategies with corporate goals (Financial, Customer, Operational & People). 
• Excellent ability to evaluate options/alternatives and develop solutions/recommendations for solutions to complex and multi-dimensional problems/issues.
• Thorough knowledge of HR policies, programs and best practices
• Solid negotiation and strategic influencing skills 
• Strong prioritization skills and proven ability to successful deliver/implement/execute initiatives, products, processes and policies.
• Strong team building skills and proven ability to effectively motivate a high performing team.
• Strong leadership skills to motivate and coach direct report(s) to continually develop and maintain a high performance
• Post-secondary education preferred, preferably with focus on business/human resources or work related experience
• CHRL/ other HR designation an asset
