Global Banking and Markets provides a full range of credit, risk management and investment banking products and services relevant to the financing and strategic development needs of our clients. Our products include investment banking, mergers & acquisitions, corporate banking, institutional equity sales, trading and research, debt products, derivatives, foreign currencies and commodities.  We also cross-sell the full range of wholesale products and services offered by Scotiabank.

 

Position: Global Wholesale Operations Summer 2019 Internship

 

Locations: Toronto

 

Highlights: The Global Wholesale Operations Internship is a four-month position that is designed to introduce undergraduate students to the engaging world of Operations. Supporting numerous products across a number of business lines, Operations plays an integral role in the client experience. As an Operation’s intern, our Internship program will provide you with the opportunity to gain hands-on learning experience   within Operations trade lifecycle. Students will have the opportunities to be placed  specifically in one of the following functional areas:

 

  • Clearing & Settlements
  • Confirmations
  • Payments
  • Middle Office
  • Operations Control
  • Lending Services
  • Operational & Process Improvement

                                   

You will also have opportunities to participate in networking events and learning sessions with Operations leadership as well as the greater Global Banking and Markets team.

                                   

The objective of the internship program is to identify exceptional candidates for full-time opportunities within the Global Wholesale Operations Graduate Training Program upon graduation. This 2 year, rotational based program is designed to provide you with cross-product, and cross-functional experience to gain a strong understanding of Operations and the businesses we support, while developing the skills necessary to be a leader within the organization.


Summer Interns will also have access to the Global Banking and Markets Learning Program – frequent interactive learning sessions led by our experienced professionals.  Interns will also participate in our Mentoring program where they will be teamed-up with a mentor who will serve as a guide for professional and personal development over the course of the summer.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree to be completed Spring/Summer 2020
  • Demonstrated interest and knowledge in the financial markets
  • Proven record of outstanding achievement in academic and extracurricular activities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to overcome challenges presented by a constantly changing work environment
