Global Banking & Markets (GBM) provides a full range of investment banking, credit and risk management products and services relevant to the financing and strategic development needs of our clients. Our products include debt and equity financing, mergers & acquisitions, corporate banking, institutional equity sales, trading and research, fixed income products, derivatives, energy, foreign exchange, and precious & metals. We also cross-sell the full range of wholesale products and services offered by the Scotiabank Group.


Position Description:


Collateral Management & Funding (CMF) operates globally (Toronto, New York, London, and Singapore) with a mandate that includes Secured Funding & Collateral Optimization, Short-term Interest Rate Market Making & Sales, Client Financing Solutions, and Financial Resource Management. CMF’s primary responsibility is to provide centralized funding while managing the collateral and liquidity needs of all areas of Global Capital Markets (GCM). Through Financial Resource Management (FRM), CMF provides GCM management MIS analysis on balance sheet consumption, liquidity metrics, resource allocations, and return metrics to gain insights into our business and client activity. The CMF FRM team builds and maintains a comprehensive data infrastructure, and accompanying reports, dashboards, and other tools we leverage to provide key business information to GCM senior management.


This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with staff across sales and trading desks, treasury, finance, and risk management functions. We are seeking high performance, results oriented individuals to be part of the team.

  • You are currently enrolled in post-secondary education.
  • You love to learn and envision yourself working for an international organization that heavily invests in your future.
  • You enjoy being involved in extracurricular activities such as conferences, clubs, and competitions/hackathons.
  • Solid fundamentals of programming, algorithm design, and data structures.
  • Strong functional knowledge of SQL & Python.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, ideally Tableau.
  • Familiarity with AirFlow, Scala, YAML, Hive, Spark.
  • Keen interest in finance & capital markets; knowledge of accounting & Basel concepts an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Keen desire to learn new concepts.
  • Effective communication skills; ability to bridge technical concepts into a business setting.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-environment and network across business & technology disciplines.
