Story Behind the Need

 

Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank’s Corporate, Investment Banking, and Capital Markets businesses. 

 

Role

GBME is searching for Associate Automation Engineer to liaison between business stakeholders and internal engineering and architect teams, ensuring solutions are developed and delivered on time, efficiently and with high quality for various projects within GBME.

The successful candidate will have a technical and engineering mindset.  You will work closely with business teams and cross functional engineering leaders to learn, develop and implement market leading solutions for the various projects within GBME.  

In partnership with peer engineers, business partners, and the various GBME teams, you will:

  • Gain knowledge of business functions to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities.
  • Learn and perfect business specifications/requirements documentation is accurately prepared and comprehensive to support sizing/development efforts and as input to various project documentation.
  • Will learn to Design test sets and automate where possible, including functional and nonfunctional testing, regression testing as well as performance testing
  • Be involved in the full life cycle of a project, responsible for producing actionable and complete specifications, writing production quality code, and implementation
  • Work closely across GBME technology teams during all stages of the system development life cycle and bridge the gap between business and technology sides of the solution.
  • Liaising between the business community and the IT organization to provide technical solutions that meet user needs. 
  • Build relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues in Global regions.
  • Support production issues and handle escalations during Release cycles as needed.
  • Improve the end user experience by finding scalable solutions and addressing complex ad hoc queries.
  • Participate in SCRUM Meetings.

Job Responsibilities you are training for:

  • You are passionate about developing applications that are reusable, efficient, and scalable, working in an innovated cross functional team environment.
  • Experience working across multiple teams and functions to ensure alignment.
  • 1+ years practical experience in a corporate environment.
  • Experience with 1 or more modern development languages (Python, Java, SQL etc.).
  • Experience working with all phases of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
