The Team

This position requires a leader to manage development teams, technical deliverables, and stakeholder relationships; however the incumbent must be well rounded to express empathy to ensure we lead with a mindset to understand and drive value for our customers.

- Be at the forefront of technology and enable your team to be a highly functioning technology power house that enables transformation.
- Actively partners internally with other Engineering Leads and Scrum Masters to ensure logistics, scope, and delivery are shared, with successes and lessons learned appropriately integrated.
- Defines success metrics at the portfolio, application, and team levels by leveraging agile practices.
- Responsible for implementation of strategy including high level planning of work and people across multi-year timeframe, with clear milestone value deliveries.
- Identifies and manages risks versus opportunities and articulates how that impacts value and goals against the portfolio
- Drives external partnerships with key stakeholders (business, technology, finance, security, risk, and more)
- Serves as a steward of team culture, environment, and engineering practices
- Comfortable to both encourage and challenge others to align behaviours towards our mindset
- Influence, question, and evaluate processes to determine opportunities for effectiveness
- Embrace and initiate change for continuous improvement
- Provides thought leadership, innovative ideas, and drives toward partnership at the table for program strategy
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
- Desire and drive for innovation through problem solving, leveraging resourcefulness as a key skill; have a learning mindset while intrinsically motivated to learning new tools and techniques
- Experience leading and motivating teams – this will be a mix of direct reports, peers, and key partners to enable successful outcomes; command presence, and be able to influence others
- Technical understanding – as an Engineering Lead there will be expectations that you are able to lead technical discussions, challenge design and strategy (examples: cloud platforms, microservices, data transformation, process and quality automation)
- Comfortable with continuously changing environments (examples: business priorities, new technologies)
- Exhibit a high degree of understanding risk management; passion for your craft should also lead to expectations in quality, what is best in the interest of progress, and ability to communicate decisions and value in justification
- Leverage and understand the use of analytics to enable day-to-day conversations and decision making
