Documentation/Funding Support Officer is responsible for contributing to the profitable growth, quality and maintenance of the Scotia Leasing portfolio by providing operational support with respect to the department’s documentation and funding processes. The incumbent assists in ensuring customer commitments and service level agreements are met. He or she must maintain full awareness of, and comply with Bank’s regulatory requirements, and the Bank’s Complaint Resolution Standards and Procedures. 

Scotia Leasing is a division of Commercial Banking and is responsible for maintaining and growing the Leasing portfolio of Small Business, Commercial and Corporate divisions.  


•    Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

•    Ensures the timely completion of all pre-funding requirements achieved by exceptional organizational and communication skills.  

•    Completes security registrations in accordance with the appropriate Personal Security Registration Acts.

•    Ensures perfected security over leased or financed assets by conducting security registration searches and obtaining subordination letters as required. 

•    Liaises with the Branch Services Centres (BSC) and Commercial Banking partners to ensure the required pre-funding confirmation items have been obtained at the time of funding.

•    Reviews insurance requirements and obtains appropriate asset coverages by working closely with various external insurance contacts.

•    Performs other duties as assigned based on business’ operational needs. 

•    Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

•    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct. 

•    Champions a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team. 

Additional Experience 

•    University/College Degree.
•    Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
•    Understanding of Personal Property Security Act, provincial property registrations, searches and subordination requirements.
•    Knowledge of commercial leasing products.
•    French is considered an asset.
