The Director of Global Institutional Product Solutions/Initiatives leads the strategic and day-to-day business needs across SGAM Global Institutional and reports directly to the Head of Global Institutional Strategy.
This hybrid role covers all aspects of Global Institutional Business and Product Strategy and works in a leadership capacity to steward a unified institutional business/product roadmap in Canada and all Global markets which Scotia resides. The role provides strategic guidance and supports/leads special projects, communications and reporting. As a subject matter expert of the Institutional business this role is a key liaison for business heads, enterprise strategy and committees.

Business Initiatives
- Support SGAM Institutional initiatives; engage with senior leadership to drive key initiatives that align with and propel the team's strategic vision, providing high-impact support that translates strategy into execution.
- In partnership with key stakeholders, manage projects through the full lifecycle, ensuring deliverables are met and delivered with a high degree of effectiveness.
- Partner with SGAM Institutional leadership team to support core business activities such as business planning, reporting, communications and presentation development.
- Lead the preparation of executive reporting, including board packages, Business Highlights, and executive commentary, gathering data from owners across functions.
- Manage KPI reporting, including the development of KPIs and tracking of progress.
- Manage and plan SGAM Institutional leadership meeting agendas, speakers, and content as well as support and drive deliverables.
- Provide strategic input and business content for Enterprise, external and client speaking engagements for the SGAM Retail Distribution leadership team.
- Act as a key liaison for different business partners, enterprise strategy teams and various committees that engage with SGAM Retail Distribution leadership.
- Foster strong collaborative partnerships, and relationships with stakeholders across GWM and the Bank to help drive and support the execution of strategic projects and initiatives.
Product Strategy, Management & Research
- Lead contributor/SME for product strategy for Global Institutional business with strong collaboration/idea sharing advanced across other (Retail, Wealth, Bank, International) channels. Includes evaluation of both in-house investment management expertise across SGAM, as well as build-out, lift out, acquisition of best-in class capabilities
- Formulate product road maps which detail product demand, design, pricing, and supporting elements, while being mindful of distribution framework and client needs.
- Perform detailed market research - have an ability to size a market, formulate a pricing strategy and understand the key competitors in each segment
- Responsible for business case development and other approval documentation
- Requires close collaboration across Investment Management, Distribution, Marketing, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Product Development & Innovation etc. in both leadership and key contributor capacities
- Requires strong understanding of institutional investment solutions/structures (across Listed/Private) including separate accounts, collective vehicles, LPs, mutual funds, ETFs, and offering memorandum structure and will work in close collaboration with and within the broader Scotia GAM Product Development and Innovation team process framework.
- Work directly with Marketing/Distribution to develop standard and custom presentations
- Present in conjunction with Distribution to Clients / Prospects across all relevant Institutional capabilities
Education, Professional Experience, Certifications and Skills required:
- Minimum 10-15 years business experience
- Demonstrated success in a similar role with an affinity for business and investment product strategy, management, development or other relevant product functions
- Highly developed analytical and collaboration skills with proven experience in a leadership role.
- A strong understanding of financial markets and portfolio management theory is required as well as highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Superior decision-making, strategic influencing, and leadership skills
- Persuasive verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to build credibility and trust with colleagues and clients and communicate ideas effectively
- Strong strategic thinking, results-focused competencies and relationship management skills, both internally and externally
- Formative presentation and marketing skills
- Education will include an undergraduate degree and preference given to CFA charterholders/candidates
- Proficiency with Excel, Powerpoint, Power BI, project management tools; Morningstar Direct, Preqin, eVestment, and Bloomberg is helpful
Working Conditions:
- Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Limited travel domestically.
