The Team

 

  • Leads and oversees Intelligence Platforms globally ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

 

  • Direct the development, approval and execution of strategic plans, policies and standards surrounding systems development, business analysis, business stakeholders’ management, project management, project implementation and production application support for Global Technology Applications.

 

  • Responsible for the overall Global Technology Applications (GTA) technology strategy for Low Code and End User Computing, acting group wide as well as with a specific Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) focus.

 

  • The incumbent works with the business unit management and forms alliances on projects, operational decisions, financial planning, technology vision, execution strategy and delivery, including vendor management. Provides expert guidance on and staff augmentation for Low Code / End User computing projects.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

 

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

 

  • Handles all aspects of Model Platforms and Low Code Development in Global Capital Markets business portfolio, which includes Front Office, Back Office and Audit review and findings. These systems typically involve large amount of non-IT developed code or a significant hands-on joint development effort between IT and staff embedded in a business line.

 

  • Serves as a local backstop and point of responsibility for End User and Low Code development with GTA. Has a dotted line reporting responsibility for Low Code local experts in each of the GTA business silos. Acts a local point of focus for emerging low code / end user computing technologies such as PowerApps / CoPilot / AppSheets

 

  • Leads and oversees the department globally; ensuring business and technology strategies, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered in compliance with governing regulations, and internal policies and procedures.

 

  • Delivery and management of highly complex technology programs which consist of multiple IT projects for multiple business partners and stakeholders, across multiple business units. Serve as a sponsor for driving down operational costs using Rapid Application Development, Artificial Intelligence and Robotic Process Automation within the Operations area. Pass solutions developed back to GBME and the wider enterprise. 

 

 

 

  • Creates a responsive, outcome-oriented environment in which the team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas, ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

 

  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.

 

  • Accountable for proactively managing and providing oversight to Cyber and IT risks in accordance with the Technology Policies, including Cyber and IT Risk Policy, Cyber Security and Information Security Policy, Availability and Resiliency Policy (e.g., identification, assessment, and responses of IT risks).

 

  • Proactively engages with Cyber and IT Risk Management functions to implement and apply enterprise Cyber and IT Risk management processes, methodologies, and proactively reduces risk and stay below appetite for establishes Cyber and IT Risk thresholds.

 

  • Accountable for communicating key areas of risk to the businesses supported and actioning their resulting decisions.

 

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

 

 

  • Aleast 7-10 years of IT and business/industry work experience.
  • Business knowledge and experience (understanding of vision, financial objectives/how business functions and core processes interact/the strategic importance of projects, how they relate to Scotiabank's goals, how projects interact/impact of change and/or delays in projects).
  • Process knowledge and experience in scheduling, resource allocation, risk management and systems design.
  • Critical thinking, continuous improvement and transformation in leading the group delivering high performance while aligning to group and Bank’s strategic direction.
  • Experience in the project management of highly complex technology projects.
  • Experience in vendor management, including contract negotiations and managing outsourcers.
  • Experience in managing offshore resources.
  • In-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, practices and techniques for managing the activities related to planning, managing and implementing software projects and programs.
  • The incumbent will have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, OR equivalent work experience.
