Responsible for contributing to sound asset growth and profits of the Bank by ensuring all credit requests are properly analyzed, adjudicated and, where appropriate, documented, ensuring requests are realistic and effective decisions/recommendations are made within reasonable time frames. 

 

Contribute to and lead a credit adjudication team for assigned groups or geographic regions. Adjudicates on specific credits within personal limits and takes over limit/out of policy proposals to the next level up including appropriate Credit Committee.       

 

What you'll do in this role? 

  • Undertaking analysis of credit applications and providing recommendations;  
  • Monitoring the timely review of all applications and submissions and ensuring the accuracy thereof;  
  • Providing clear authorization to field offices;
  • Ensuring, where appropriate, documentation adequately protects the Bank’s interest; 
    Ensuring the accuracy of data in various databases and reports; and
  • Developing and maintaining extensive base of industry knowledge.Authorization of credits within the delegated limits jointly with appropriate banking counterpart, while adhering to the Banks’ underwriting guidelines.
  • Attend Senior Credit Committee, as appropriate, and discuss the merits of credit applications as required.
  • Oversee and contribute to the preparation of industry reports and other industry account information as requested.
  • Contribute to profitable business development by participating in and providing managerial direction and guidance to team members.
  • Ensure the maintenance of acceptable quality in the portfolio by scanning operating environment on an ongoing basis, monitoring the quality of accounts and providing constructive comments to field offices on credit applications and other submissions.
  • Manage and develop staff to ensure efficient operations, attainment of objectives and human resource development.     

 

Is this role right for you? 

  • 7 – 10 years progressive experience in a banking or credit capacity.
  • Seasoned knowledge of the Bank's risk appetite, lending policies, procedures and practices including economic & regulatory requirements.  
  • Strong working knowledge of banking, commercial/corporate and bankruptcy, civil and common law and related regulations locally and internationally.
  • Sound working knowledge of the accounting and regulatory environments for the real estate markets in which the Bank's customers operate, including corporate tax law, securities and regulation, accounting and regulatory aspects of regulated industries and environmental protection legislation as these affect the safety of credits. Includes understanding financial market products and capabilities.
  • Solid grasp of loan structures & pricing including deal structuring, due diligence, documentation and protections required for complex credits such as highly leveraged acquisition credits, project credits etc.
  • Current understanding of relevant information as it relates to the complexity of real estate transactions and the credit applicant, i.e., the economic, tax, technological or social issues impacting the borrowers, the industry and the marketplace including country risk, as required.
  • Ability to debate the merits and vulnerabilities of credit applications with Banking and Senior Credit Committee, approving/declining or providing recommendations as appropriate which requires highly developed communications skills.
  • Ability to understand financial statements & cash flow analysis.
  • Ability to manage a portfolio within a fast-paced, ever changing environment.
  • Excellent analytical and time management skills with the ability to supportively lead a team and negotiate with client partners.
