The Role:

The Director will lead and manage the Exchange Traded Derivative Operations team, driving operational excellence and ensuring alignment with business strategies and regulatory requirements. This role oversees Senior Managers and their teams, fostering a high-performance culture focused on compliance, risk mitigation, and client service.

  • Lead and manage the Exchange Traded Derivative Operations team, ensuring efficient, risk-aware, and compliant operations.
  • Develop and execute strategic and tactical plans to improve operational efficiency, automation, and standardization.
  • Oversee governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management, including AML/ATF and sanctions requirements.
  • Build and maintain a high-performing, inclusive team through coaching, succession planning, and talent development.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external clearing partners across Canada, the U.S., Europe, and other regions.
  • Drive transformation initiatives and process improvements to adopt industry best practices and enhance client experience.
  • Ensure robust supervisory controls, risk reporting, and escalation mechanisms are in place and effective.
  • Manage resources and budgets to meet business objectives and regulatory obligations.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

 

  • Leadership Experience: Minimum 10 years in senior operational management roles within capital markets, with a track record of leading large teams and influencing at the executive level.
  • Domain Expertise: Extensive knowledge of Exchange Traded Derivatives, clearing processes, and related regulatory frameworks. Familiarity with derivatives and foreign exchange operations is highly recommended.
  • Regulatory & Risk Acumen: Strong understanding of wholesale banking operations, compliance requirements, and risk management principles.
  • Strategic Mindset: Ability to design and execute transformation strategies, optimize processes, and implement automation to reduce operational risk.
  • Stakeholder Management: Skilled at building relationships with internal executives and external clearing partners across multiple geographies.
  • Operational Excellence: Demonstrated success in creating standardized, efficient processes and leveraging data analytics for risk mitigation and performance improvement.
  • Change Leadership: Adept at leading through complexity, driving cultural change, and fostering an inclusive, high-performance environment.
  • Critical Skills: Exceptional organizational, communication, and decision-making abilities, with strong business acumen and sound judgment.
