The Global Wealth Engineering (GWE) team is responsible for designing, building, and scaling data solutions in close collaboration with enterprise data platform teams. We partner with architecture, cloud engineering, security, governance, and business stakeholders to deliver high‑quality, domain‑aligned data products and modern engineering capabilities.

 

We are seeking a Director, Wealth Engineering to lead the design and delivery of data products and platform capabilities across Global Wealth Management. In this role, you will provide technical direction, oversee engineering execution, and ensure our data solutions align with business outcomes, enterprise strategy, and modern data‑engineering best practices.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

 

  • Oversee end‑to‑end delivery of high‑impact data products supporting portfolio management, performance, reporting, client lifecycle, investment operations, and trading workflows.
  • Design and deliver scalable, performant, and cost‑effective full‑stack data solutions built using Medallion Architecture on Databricks, and be accountable for leading design reviews, data‑model evaluations, code reviews, and broader architecture discussions to ensure technical soundness, enterprise alignment, and consistency across teams.
  • Ensure data products meet quality standards across testing, observability, auditability, lineage, and operational readiness.
  • Drive domain‑driven data architectures on the Databricks platform, ensuring consistency, interoperability, and adherence to design principles.
  • Support development of data pipelines, automated testing, and deployment strategies using modern engineering and DevOps practices.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to security‑by‑design principles, including identity, access, data protection, and governance.
  • Manage cross‑squad engineering resourcing, aligning talent with technical and data product requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (from data‑source discovery to consumption) to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
  • Coordinate dependencies across upstream data sources, downstream consumers, and partner groups, including architecture, security, cloud, and operations.
  • Act as senior escalation point for complex data issues, performance bottlenecks, production investigations, and remediation efforts.
  • Foster a culture of engineering excellence, documentation discipline, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of wealth and asset‑management business strategies across a global footprint.

  • Education: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 12+ years in data engineering, data platforms, or large‑scale distributed data systems.
  • 4+ years leading multi‑team engineering organizations or complex data initiatives.
  • Deep expertise with:
    • Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog
    • Medallion Architecture
    • Distributed data processing & performance tuning
    • CI/CD for data pipelines, DevOps and automation
    • Cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS)
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, orchestration tools, lineage, metadata management, governance frameworks, and modern testing approaches.

Leadership & Communication

  • Ability to influence senior business leaders, architects, and engineering teams.
  • Skilled at simplifying technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to build high‑functioning teams with clear ownership and accountability.
  • Able to lead multiple engineering teams through a common vision to deliver quality solutions across all products
  • Strong understanding of cloud cost models and project / transit budgeting
