We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented professional to join the GRM Vendor Strategy Office as Director, Vendor Strategy Management. This role is pivotal in managing a team of experienced professionals in vendor-related tools, services, and financial processes for retail and small business risk management, including sound technical knowledge on data, risk management tools, contract negotiation, budget planning, invoice administration, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure optimized pricing and services level for critical data and risk management tools, accurate financial tracking, compliance, and strategic alignment to support risk management functions.
You will act as a trusted advisor and influencer, fostering strong partnerships with stakeholders in GRM, Technology, Procurement, Legal, Privacy, Compliance, Finance, and Business Lines. This position requires strategic thinking, technical & system knowledge, well organized, exceptional analytical and communication skills, commitment to operational excellence, and alignment to our ScotiaBond values.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
Internal and External Relationship
- Build strong strategic relationship with both internal stakeholders and vendors to develop long term roadmap on risk management vendor strategy.
- Lead team in fostering strong relationship with independent control function to optimize contract turnaround.
- Partner with Global Procurement function in strengthening enterprising level vendor governance framework.
Data and System Expertise
- Lead team in partnership with cross functional data teams to integrate vendor data process into enterprise Cloud roadmap
- Strong understanding on data structure sourced from multiple system platforms.
- Strong understanding on system operation and process for credit lending platforms.
Risk Management Knowledge
- Sound knowledge on risk management practices (policy, strategy and modelling) to recognise and support business partners’ needs.
- Reconcile expenses and ensure timely posting of journal entries.
- Monitor and update internal tracking systems for payment status and financial accuracy.
Budget Management & Forecasting
- Lead annual budget preparation and quarterly forecasting for vendor-related programs.
- Champion discussion to align between business needs and lead team for budget accuracy.
- Accountable for budget review and business case approval.
- Lead team in maintaining and updating budget files quarterly, ensuring accurate projections for upcoming periods.
Vendor Governance
- Lead monthly business reviews with vendors.
- Foster and champion discussions on product roadmap, new vendor solutions/tools.
- Monitor and challenge services SLA, and financial accuracy.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
- 10 years of proven experience in risk management, internal and external data management, credit lending system knowledge, and budget management.
- Experience in vendor management within a large organization; financial services experience preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in SAS, SQL, Microsoft Excel for analysis.
- Sound risk policy and strategy knowledge.
- Experience with complicated data structure via multiple credit lending systems.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
