Purpose
The Director, Value Proposition, plays a pivotal role in shaping and articulating the International Private Banking (IPB) unit’s client value proposition. This role is responsible for designing and managing differentiated services, enhancing the client journey, and supporting the strategic direction of the business. The Director will also provide executive support and contribute to strategic planning, business development, and cross-functional initiatives across the IPB footprint. Additionally, is responsible for the design, development and management of comprehensive ecosystems, the family governance model, enhanced GTB services and digital tools tailored for high-net-worth (HNW) individuals, with a focus on entrepreneurs. The role will be responsible for building beyond-traditional-banking services to offer a range of personalized and exclusive experiences, incorporating other firm’s networks.
The Director, Value Proposition, works alongside regional teams of Private Banking across Scotiabank’s international footprint, including Offshore (Toronto), Pacific Alliance Countries (Mexico, Chile, and Peru), and CCA Region (Bahamas, Cayman, Jamaica, Dominican Republic), as well as with internal stakeholders from both the same and other Business Lines.
A natural relationship builder, the incumbent will invest in developing and maintaining internal & external networks that reliably and effectively support the growth of the business. Through the proactive recognition of new opportunities for the IPB business, the incumbent will drive the development of detailed business plans with senior leadership to achieve the strategic objectives of the area, fostering innovative and scalable solutions, while optimizing profitability, finding new sources of revenues, and ensuring the delivery of long-term sustained growth.
Oversees the design and development of new services beyond banking aimed to increase revenues, reduce costs, expand the IPB business, optimize resources, and ensure long-term profitability.
Develop and manage the integration of a broad range of services within the banking journey, including a suite of specialists in insurance, real estate, and luxury branding networks.
Identifies opportunities on how to benefit from other firms’ processes, channels, technologies, offerings or brands.
Leads the identification of new business opportunities on expanding the business, and builds the strategic partnerships required to take advantage of those opportunities.
Proposes and develops internal and external strategic alliances to increase IPB capabilities and competitive advantage.
Oversees internal assessments of the cost structure of the IPB business across our international footprint, to identify cost-cutting opportunities, and optimize expenses.
Conducts market research, gathers client feedback, and collaborates with internal teams across our footprint to foster innovation. Gains insights into market trends, and competitive landscape. Analyzes data and gathers information to identify potential growth opportunities and understand the market dynamics.
Supports the implementation of the Private Banking Value Proposition strategies, coordinating with the accountable leaders in every jurisdiction that the initiatives are implemented in a scalable and efficient way.
Determines strategic objectives and goals for business development efforts. These include, but are not limited to, revenues, market expansion, customer acquisition, and products and services development objectives. Regularly refines de strategies to adapt to new market conditions and competitive environment.
The role requires dynamic leadership, intellectual curiosity and an entrepreneurial mindset. The primary purpose of the position is to generate revenue opportinities beyond banking servicing to increase business expansion and profitability of private banking across the IWM footprint.
What you will be doing:
- Design and evolve the IPB client value proposition to reflect the unique needs of high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients across international markets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Marketing, Sales Enablement, Operations) to ensure alignment of the value proposition with client expectations and business strategy.
- Develop frameworks and messaging that clearly articulate the IPB offering, including everyday banking, lending, advisory, and lifestyle services.
- Amplify revenue growth by leveraging other firm’s networks while ensuring operational efficiency and optimal use of the bank’s balance sheet.
- Implements personalized services such as Cash Management for Household Staffing and Payroll Services, as well as for FX and Treasury management, ensuring clients receive comprehensive support for both their personal and business activities.
- Build and manage a network of real estate partners to provide clients with access to premium real estate opportunities, top-tier architects, designers and other suite of specialists to assist the client in achieving their ultimate real estate purchase.
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners, including fintech companies, startups, and industry experts.
- Develop strategic relationships with senior management and key stakeholders such as in-countries heads of Wealth Management, Private Banking, Digital Team Leads and GTB in our international footprint.
- Ensure Family Governance framework is leveraged to deliver the whole bank and increase primacy.
- Build a vetted network of services to support clients and their families in everyday and complex needs such as Art Services, Travel, Tax, Insurance, Education and Real Estate, to enhance the client experience.
- Ensure focus on entrepreneurs, with the incorporation of Business Advisory, Education and Succession Planning services.
- Lead and develop programs and services specifically designed to support and empower wealthy women.
- Develop integrated professional services, adjacent to our product offering, to further accompany our Private Banking clients in their growth journey.
- Actively manage a thorough understanding of client segments including EHNW, HNW (entrepreneurs, professionals, multi-generational wealth) and UHNW.
- Lead the implementation of a family governance model to support succession planning, legacy management, and next-generation engagement.
- Support the development and execution of strategic initiatives across the IPB footprint.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
- Contribute to the development of business cases, strategic presentations, and executive communications.
- Amplify revenue growth by leveraging other firm’s networks while ensuring operational efficiency and optimal use of the bank’s balance sheet.
- Ensure Family Governance framework is leveraged to deliver the whole bank and increase primacy.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of ecosystems, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Monitor and assess the impact of innovation initiatives, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Provide high-level support to leadership, including preparation of briefing materials, coordination of strategic meetings, and follow-up on key initiatives.
- Act as a liaison between the Regional IPB office and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely execution of priorities.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the value proposition, servicing engagement, and strategic initiatives.
- Provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement and enhanced client outcomes.

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Fluency in English required; Spanish is a strong asset.
