The Director, Transformation Office (12-month contract) will contribute to the overall success of the Risk Transformation Program within Global Risk Management (GRM).  The Risk Transformation Program is a significant multi-year investment for Scotiabank. The key objective of the program is to strengthen the effectiveness of the Bank’s risk function through sustainable process enhancements and updated target operating models.
This role will work closely with the VP, Transformation Office, GRM senior management, subject matter experts, business line leads and a diverse set of stakeholders to drive the execution and ongoing management of the Risk Transformation Program. This includes generating insights to deliver strategic recommendations and support execution monitoring, oversight and reporting.

 

The Director will ensure cross-functional collaboration while managing organizational changes, and ensuring items are executed and delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, procedures and best practices. 

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will be driving:   

  • Accountable for the bi-weekly reporting and governance processes of the Risk Transformation Program, including materials preparation for the Transformation Operating Group (Secretary), Executive Committee, Executive Steering Group, regulatory and Board updates
  • Operate as the Chief of Staff for the Transformation Office, including maintaining the operating budget, spearheading operational activities and finding opportunities to enhance efficiency, and leading special projects as needed
  • Act as a trusted partner to the VP, Transformation Office and TMO Leadership team, to help define and review priorities, ensuring they are set up to achieve them
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to generate insights and deliver strategic recommendations that support the execution of the Risk Transformation Program.
  • Acts as the key point of contact for the Transformation Office and program stakeholders within Global Risk Management, Global Communications, Global Finance, etc. 
  • Partner with the Director, Risk Strategy to drive stakeholder engagement, including organizing leadership forums, partner sessions, roadshows etc. to promote the Transformation Office and Risk Transformation Program  
  • Facilitate coordination between stakeholders to bridge silos and enable alignment across risk stripes, business lines and corporate functions throughout all stages of development and execution; this includes identifying strategic communication opportunities
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Create an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team. 

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have: 

  • Business degree, master’s degree and/or MBA
  • 3-4 years of experience in a top-tier management consulting firm; banking industry expertise is highly recommended and experience with risk management an asset
  • Experience developing and supporting large-scale, complex programs across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic business environment
  • Exceptional planning and analytical skills, ability to discern research information / data and focus on the critical business issues
  • Ability to effectively manage relationships across the Bank
  • Experience running complex projects, with large group of cross-functional stakeholders
  • Superior interpersonal skills, leadership capabilities and exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated; ability to work both independently and collaboratively with multi-functional teams
  • Collaborative and proven track record of managing and developing high-potential talent
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
