Purpose
The Director, Team Leader & Banker Development is responsible for creating and delivering sales, sales management, credit and value proposition training and learning programs across both Private and Signature banking teams. The Director will develop a complete curriculum based on national best practices, and incorporate other existing and new performance management, sales and credit training content. The incumbent will develop different content for Team Leads and Bankers. The curriculum will be tailored for various roles across Private and Signature banking and for different experience levels from new hires through experienced team leaders and bankers.
The role is responsible for elevating the sales and execution performance of all teams. Content for leaders will focus on sales management, setting goals, team planning and coaching, and business development strategies, including development of both internal partnerships and external COIs. Training for bankers will focus on value proposition, client discovery, business development tactics, borrowing to invest strategies, and credit fundamentals. The incumbent will develop policies, processes and tools that improve overall sales effectiveness and service delivery.
The Director will work closely with the Private Banking senior leadership team, including SVP and Regional Vice-Presidents, to ensure programs are addressing high priority training and development needs. The Director will work with internal partners, including Practice Management to ensure content is aligned with other supporting programs across Scotia Wealth Management. The Director will work with Marketing and other enablement teams to ensure team leaders and banker teams are equipped with marketing content that supports business strategy and revenue objectives.
What you will be doing:
Support the development of strategy and strategic priorities by:
- Work with the SVP, RVPs and Head Office teams, to develop training strategy, development priorities, long term vision and plan. Partner with Sales
- Leadership to define and execute sales strategies aligned with business line goals and objectives.
- Work with Senior Leadership team to address ongoing assessment of performance, identifying gaps and opportunities for new development programs and content. This includes ongoing assessment of business line competitive positioning.
- Capture and document best practices across roles and functions.
- Support the development of strategic priorities and initiatives for partnerships and strategic alliances.
- Work with market leaders on business planning, coaching to sales activity and goal setting.
- Analyze pipeline, forecasting, to determine training and learning opportunities.
- Drive adoption of tools, processes, and behaviors that lead to high-performance cultures.
- Champion a data-driven, coaching-rich environment where teams can improve consistently.
- Foster a culture of accountability, growth mindset, and shared success.
Execution on Sales Process, Enablement & Productivity:
- Define and own the performance enablement vision and strategy aligned with business line goals and objectives.
- Develop frameworks that integrate onboarding, continuous learning, and performance measurement.
- Partner with leaders, marketing, product, and HR leaders to align enablement with business priorities
- Evaluate, support and optimize the end-to-end client experience process to improve discovery conversations, advice and conversion to outcomes.
- Train and coach leaders to leverage and implement Client Relationship tools, including Salesforce, and data-driven insights to deepen client relationship across business lines.
- Support business line work to improve reporting and understanding of performance dashboards to improve productivity at the banker and team level.
- Ensure onboarding, training, and development programs are aligned with KPIs and business priorities.
- Drive adoption of sales tools, methodologies, and best practices across the business
Cross-Functional Leadership:
- The incumbent works cross-functional to develop tools, training, coaching, and performance frameworks that help teams exceed targets, improve customer outcomes, and drive growth.
- Work closely with Marketing, Product, Finance, and Operations to align on priorities, implementation of change and training initiatives.
- Be a thought partner in shaping the customer experience, onboarding and advice journies and revenue-generating activities.
Business line financial analysis, planning and reporting by:
- Design and implement performance improvement programs (e.g., skills assessments, value proposition training, coaching plans, playbooks and KPIs).
- Enable frontline managers with coaching frameworks, feedback tools, and performance diagnostics.
- Leverage analytics and performance data to identify gaps and drive targeted business development opportunities.
- Work closely with Finance and Data teams to review monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports to ensure alignment with growth objectives.
- Consider competitive trends and capabilities in prioritizing development content.

- 10 years of financial services and management experience.
- Proven track record in strategy development including in-depth experience and demonstrated success in leading multi-disciplinary initiatives of varying sizes and complexity, efficiently and effectively, ensuring all elements of change are considered, understood and managed.
- Strategic and operational mindset with strong data analysis and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives focused on change management and process improvement.
- Results-driven and customer-centric approach
- Ability to take calculated, enterprising risks supported by clear rationale (e.g. industry trends, competitive research, and positive cost benefit analysis)
- Strong negotiating, influencing and communication skills (written and oral) to influence all levels of the organization through the presentation of insight based on sound investigation experiences
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills that facilitate a positive and effective team environment at all levels of the organization
- High credibility with the Bank’s senior management team and with business line and other functional area management teams.
