Commercial Banking National Accounts is a dynamic customer-facing business focused on the largest lending and deposit relationships within Scotiabank’s Commercial Bank. As part of our efforts to support Scotiabank’s commitments to climate transition and sustainable economic growth, we have established a Commercial Banking Sustainable Finance team to help our National Accounts customers and prospects align their financing and investing needs with their sustainability goals.
National Accounts is seeking to hire a Director of Sustainable Finance who will help create a sustainable finance strategy and marketing materials with suitable ESG products and services tailored to our National Accounts customers and prospects. The role will also support the maintenance of data and reporting related to Commercial Banking sustainable finance wins and ESG commitments, and may involve oversight of cross-functional projects aiming to develop blended finance solutions and working on other product innovation with stakeholders across the enterprise.
With the support of National Accounts Relationship Managers, the successful candidate will ultimately be responsible for the generation of new business opportunities and the successful execution of ESG mandates for Scotiabank National Accounts clients across all regions. The role will involve collaborating with key stakeholders in the Global Banking and Market’s Sustainable Finance Group, Global Sustainability, Indigenous Financial Services, The Scotiabank Women Initiative, Scotiabank’s Social Impact & Communications group, Global Risk Management, Payments and Cash Management, National Accounts Relationship Managers to develop sustainable finance products and initiatives, and deliver comprehensive ESG solutions, data management and reporting.
Accountabilities:
• Lead client marketing efforts and execution of mandates across sustainable finance and ESG advisory products for clients in Commercial Banking National Accounts
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to further develop sustainable finance initiatives and explore product development opportunities
• Oversee the maintenance of detailed databases, client presentations, market communications and internal reporting
• Create sustainable finance product frameworks (green, social, sustainability, transition, sustainability-linked) for a cross-section of commercial and public sector customers across a range of financial products
• Advise clients on evolving ESG trends including policy and regulatory developments (transition, ESG targets, ESG reporting, ESG ratings, taxonomies, legislation, ICMA principles)
• Maintain strong knowledge of global sustainable finance market developments (market trends, financial product development, structuring)
• Provide insightful thought leadership for both clients and internal stakeholders including conference speaking, market commentary, opinion pieces, recommendations and analysis
• Provide guidance and mentorship to National Accounts Relationship Managers to assist them in sustainable finance-related marketing efforts

Education / Experience / Other Information:
• Advanced professional designation preferred (Master’s degree, CFA, CA)
• 8+ years of relevant experience (ESG, sustainability, commercial banking, investment banking, corporate banking, debt capital markets, equity capital markets, corporate finance, accounting, consulting)
• Experience in ESG or sustainable finance considered highly beneficial
• Strong understanding of credit, capital markets and Scotiabank’s key business lines
