The Director, Strategy & Business Management, is responsible for shaping and driving Finance’s strategic agenda by translating enterprise and Global Finance priorities into operating framework, actionable plans, performance measures, and external and internal communications strategies. The role provides integrated management support to the Value Creation Office, the Global Finance senior leadership, ensuring Finance executes with clarity, operational discipline, and proactive management of communication, priorities, risks, and resources.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Lead VCO strategy planning, performance tracking, and resource prioritization across Global Finance verticals: employee planning and developing a performance framework.
- Support planning and analysis and develop recommendations for strategic initiatives, reinforcing alignment across broader BNS enterprise and/or regional functions.
- Design and articulate modernization efforts to Global Finance’s operating model(s), with cross-vertical strategic design and coordination.
- Align senior committee agendas to strategic outcomes and ensure trade-off clarity for executives and Board-level forms, leading Board and OPCO-level updates and communications.
- Maintain the governance and policy framework for Global Finance in line with Bank best practices.
- Work with Global Finance Leadership team to manage a backlog of clearly defined and prioritized organizational initiatives and projects, understanding changes that may impact prioritization, and support the accelerated execution of these initiatives through shared project management and execution expertise.
- Oversee Global Finance Communications for developing, coordinating and executing an integrated communication strategy that supports Global Finance’s priorities and operating model evolution including Finance wide training, leadership messages, and Town hall content.
- Translate complex Finance initiatives, changes into clear, accessible communication for diverse audiences.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- Undergraduate degree in business/finance management or STEM fields in combination of CFA/FRM/MBA
- MBA or other (relevant) post-graduate degree is an asset
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Finance, Capital Markets or Strategy; preferably within a Bank or Financial Institution
- Demonstrated experience managing strategy, process improvement and global/enterprise transformational initiatives in large organizational functions, multiple geographies, and operating models.
- Ability to simplify complex financial and risk concepts for diverse audiences
- Excellent written & oral communication skills are required to deliver strong business-focused plans & strategies, presentations, and other deliverables.
- Strong decision making, forward thinking and creative problem-solving skills to anticipate and respond quickly to ambiguity, tight timelines and unforeseeable challenges.
- Bring a trade-off mindset, knowing difficult decisions are a key input in pursuing the development of a well-conceptualized, defined strategic agenda.
- The ability to be results-oriented and innovative in identifying and pursuing opportunities to leverage capabilities to increase revenues, decrease costs and mitigate risks.
- Demonstrated ability in building strong relationships with partners across the organization.
