Director, Strategic Support - Retail Client Value, Deposits, and Investments (Toronto, ON)

 

12-month Contract (opportunity for extension)

 

As the Director, Strategic Support, you will enable the Retail Client Value, Deposits, and Investments (RCVDI) business vision and the SVP’s agenda to be effectively implemented through business planning, oversight of key priorities, execution of strategic initiatives, and leadership of team operations, engagement and communications. You will play a central role in connecting strategy to execution across RCVDI and key partners while enhancing organizational effectiveness, stakeholder alignment, and team culture.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Drive the 5-year strategic planning process across RCVDI and support the fiscal planning process across the department, ensuring alignment to business priorities and enterprise objectives
  • Track short- and long-term priorities against the RCVDI plan and provide oversight of monthly, quarterly, and annual business reporting, including delivery of results commentary for senior leadership and investors
  • Design and oversee implementation of an external communications and internal stakeholder management approach for RCVDI and the SVP across forums such as OpCo, Board materials, podcasts, LinkedIn, events, and other leadership touchpoints
  • Spearhead the RCVDI team communications strategy and champion a high-performance, inclusive, and positive team culture through town halls, results meetings and social events
  • Lead and manage RCVDI leadership meetings, offsites, and governance routines, including oversight of team committees and feedback loops from employees to leadership
  • Drive operational efficiency, productivity, and alignment across RCVDI and key partners by identifying improvement opportunities, standing up and optimizing business processes and routines, and supporting effective decision-making
  • Enable SVP effectiveness through briefings, speaking notes, tracking takeaways, prioritization support, calendar coordination, and connecting the right stakeholders at the right time; act as SVP proxy as appropriate
  • Manage RCVDI operating rhythms and team infrastructure, including oversight of the budget, headcount and approvals in partnership with Finance, and support for talent and performance discussions with HR
  • Drive the execution of select strategic projects requiring alignment and impact across RCVDI and the broader organization, including AI and productivity tool integration and other priority growth programs
  • Build strong partnerships across RCVDI, Finance, HR, Communications, and other stakeholders to advance strategic priorities, support effective governance, and maintain alignment across the organization
  • Champion a customer-focused, risk-aware culture by ensuring business decisions and day-to-day activities align with the Bank’s strategy, risk appetite, and commitment to strong client outcomes
  • Champion a high-performance environment and inclusive people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team while reinforcing a collaborative and positive culture across RCVDI

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to success in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:  

  • Management and leadership experience in the financial services industry
  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • Proven track record in strategy development, business planning, and execution, with demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives of varying size and complexity from concept through implementation
  • Strong knowledge of project and portfolio management concepts, operating model design, and business process optimization
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate and prioritize several concurrent projects
  • Excellent visionary, planning and analytical skills
  • Ability to take calculated, enterprising risks supported by clear rationale (e.g., industry trends, competitive research, and positive cost benefit analysis)
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, with the ability to craft clear messaging and build alignment across senior leaders and cross-functional partners
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills that facilitate a positive and effective team environment at all levels of the organization
  • High credibility with the Bank’s senior management team, business line and other functional area management teams
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, highly visible, and complex environment, with sound judgment, strong prioritization skills, and the ability to manage multiple competing demands

Working Conditions 

  • This role is located at our downtown Toronto, ON, Canada office. Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours may be required to meet business objectives. Limited travel required.
