The Role

Director, Project Lead reports into the VP, Cloud Transformation supporting the Cloud Acceleration Program. This role is accountable for the fulfillment and day to day management of the Cloud program. Managing program objectives, project coordination and enabling activities between the governance, design, delivery and support workstreams.  Ensuring program strategy and objectives are fulfilled within the established timelines and managing and mitigating risks.

 

Some of the key accountabilities include

  • Support the strategy, governance, and implementation of a multi-year cloud transformation program
  • Leverages robust project management skills to lead the senior executive program streams, and manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget and quality standards.
  • Leads team of project delivery specialists assigned to CAP workstreams providing program and delivery framework guidance, consistency and ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget and quality standards across the entire program
  • Consistently interact with clients both in business and technology to manage project expectations and deliverables within allocated timelines and budget.
  • Escalate critical issues to senior leadership for timely resolution
  • Monitors and reports project governance and key performance indicators to Transformation Lead
  • Coordinate and motivate project management resources for quality delivery; including resource allocation and day to day people management.
  • Responsible for establishing and managing projects integrated plan in collaboration with project delivery team. Identify key stakeholders and involve subject matter experts as required
  • Create and manage Risks, Actions, Issues, Decisions (RAID) log and help drive decision-making and accountability by supporting cross-functional executive and senior management forums to align on opportunities, challenges and required actions
  • Handle, maintain and control relevant project information- project information may include project documentation; project charter; estimates; budget projections; dependencies; project plan; activity schedule; risk identification & management plan; communication & change management plan; Issues log; status reports; correspondence; meeting minutes; and Review project scope and deliverables with leads for task planning, effort estimate and resource requirement.
  • Developing detailed project plan - formulate project charter outlining scope, risks, assumptions, deliverables, timelines, resources and budget.
  • Organize & lead project Kick-Offs and status meetings.
  • Track project progress, prepare and distribute status reports to internal and external stakeholders
  • Effectively manager changing priorities, project risks & issues along with impact and mitigation plans.
  • Conducting post project evaluation and identifying successful and unsuccessful project elements
  • Facilitating change requests for major impact on scope, schedule, resourcing and budget
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk
  • Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

 

What you will bring to succeed 

  • Strong Project Management background with management experience
  • Demonstrated success delivering a large technology transformation project
  • Experience working across cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with Enterprise Delivery Framework and/or Cloud Delivery Framework
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • PMP or equivalent certification
  • Exposure to agile environment/methodologies
  • PM at a Canadian bank
  • Functional Knowledge of Data Analytics
  • Knowledge of Google Cloud (asset)
