Job Purpose:


The Director, Product Experience is responsible for developing and evolving Scotia Global Asset Management’s product experience strategy to support the growth and retention of proprietary investment solutions and to enhance the overall advisor and client experience across multiple distribution channels, brands, and audiences.

 

The role brings together product experience strategy, product and investment communications, and advisor support to ensure investment solutions are positioned clearly, consistently, and effectively across channels. It translates product features, portfolio insights, market developments, and investment concepts into high‑quality communications and content that builds advisor knowledge and supports effective advisor‑client conversations. The role also leads the development of investment articles and educational pieces and works in partnership with cross‑functional teams to support digital tools and websites that serve both advisors and clients.

 

Success in the role requires exceptional verbal and written communication skills, a strategic mindset, deep understanding of the asset management and wealth management landscape, financial markets, investment fundamentals, and distribution dynamics, along with strong project and people leadership skills. The role requires demonstrated excellence in managing complex initiatives and larger budget projects, delivering high‑quality product and investment communications, launching new investment programs and tools, and collaborating effectively across a diverse group of stakeholders to deliver consistent, relevant, and scalable product experiences. 

 


What you will be doing:
 
Product Strategy: Working closely with Product Development and channel leadership, contribute to the mutual fund product strategy for a variety of distribution channels and brands that aligns to Scotia GAM’s growth strategy. Ensure an effective communication and support model for advisors and clients is in place to drive awareness, understanding, and desired asset growth. 

 

Product Experience: Working closely with leadership and leveraging a deep understanding of Scotiabank and external distribution channels and audiences, champion a comprehensive content strategy that builds, enhances and sustains advisors' knowledge and confidence with mutual fund conversations. Elevate advisor-client interactions by leading the development of high impact national sales campaigns, product communications, skill builds, and digital tools. Act as the lead contact and subject matter expert on Scotia GAM’s product lineup, mutual funds, and investing principles for functional groups, including Learning, Distribution, and Marketing teams. 


Investment Communications: Lead the strategy to build, enhance, and sustain a deep shelf of investment communications. Collaborate with leadership of priority channels to ensure communications meet target audience needs. Oversee the management, production, and approval process of contextual, accurate and timely commentary and insights. This extends across a variety of deliverables and mediums, including scheduled commentaries, regulatory communications, portfolio manager insights, investing principles, client newsletters, marketing campaigns, and presentation materials.

 

Product Innovation: Develop and maintain a multi-year innovation roadmap for asset management, prioritizing incrementally innovative initiatives that elevate the advisor and client experience across product communication and digital platforms. Collaborate with business, vendor, and technology teams to size market opportunities, develop and validate concepts, establish partnerships and deliver value-add investment solutions and experiences. 


People Management. Lead a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy, and managing succession and development planning for the team.

 

The incumbent will leverage strong investment knowledge, business acumen, influencing skills and people management experience to advance each underlying business: 

 

  • Leverage deep product and industry knowledge to ensure competitive benchmarking of brand, message and execution of tactical sales and communication support across mass market, mass affluent, and high net worth channels.
    Strong leadership and influencing skills that maximize effectiveness of multiple relationships at the bank and facilitate effective communication and co-ordination of resources across multi-functional projects.
  • Lead and coach a team of direct and indirect reports. Cultivate an energetic, motivated results-focused team environment. Recruit high potential candidates, motivate staff, provide ongoing guidance, evaluate performance, and recommend training and development where needed.
  • Manage ongoing business complexity, aligning budget and resources across multiple channels and competing priorities, while creating capacity to support key initiatives across Canadian Banking, Scotia Financial Planning, Wealth Management, and external channels.
  • Manage cross-functional relationships including, but not limited to: Product Management & Development, National Sales, Distribution Channels, Compliance (Dealer and Manager), Marketing, Legal Counsel, Retail Deposits & Investments, Digital Commerce, Branch and Scotia Financial Planning Leadership, Translation, Global Communications, and Public and Corporate Affairs.

  • Minimum 10 years’ leadership experience within the asset management, with senior level experience in the following functions: Product
  • Management Product Development, Investment Communication, Product Marketing, Sales 
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience managing a team of direct reports.
  • Ability to influence a broad array of internal and external relationships.
