Job Purpose:

Contributes to the overall success of the Lean & Smart Automation team in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. The incumbent will oversee and be responsible for rolling out multiple productivity improvement initiatives to various teams across the enterprise. The incumbent is expected to bring a significant level of knowledge in order to identify, evaluate and recommend improvements to organizational structure, process and productivity.  The role spans activities from coaching individuals within the support areas, coaching and leading a team of analysts during the productivity rollout, organizing and conducting opportunity review sessions, driving critical diagnostics, facilitating value stream mapping with large teams, developing future state design and potential benefits, to leading 2-3 concurrent implementations at any given time.  This role is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of complex projects or multiple smaller Lean projects.  The incumbent will also be expected to present recommendations/solutions/project status to Executive Leadership.  In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for identifying and rolling out Smart Automation initiatives with their business client counterparts.  

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Lead 2-3 teams at any given time to identify opportunities for improvement across the Lean Core Components; Efficient Processes, Management Systems, Mindsets and Behaviors, Skills and Capabilities and Client Focus utilizing various tools and techniques (Time in Motion Analysis, Demand/Flow/Capacity Analysis, Key Performance Indicators, Customer Demand Analysis, Detailed Problem Solving, Waste Analysis, etc).
  • Analysis of business processes, develop hypothesis, synthesize findings, and communicate opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop strategies and recommendations, including business benefits and costs, implementation and training strategies/plan.
  • Work with business partners to develop pipeline of new projects.
  • Lead all aspects of the diagnostic, design and implementation stages by working  within cross functional teams.
  • Lead change management activities within one or more program waves.
  • Oversee several project teams to complete required objectives within a wave to achieve desired targets.
  • Assist the Director & Team Lead, Lean in the deployment of complex projects within varying business units
  • Responsible for identifying and deploying Smart Automation and Robotics within business client areas.
  • Manage multiple complex client relationships to effectively deliver value and present findings to Executive Leadership.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.  

 

Functional Competencies: 

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt/Lean certification is considered an asset
  • Spanish is an asset
  • Solid management experience in leading multi-stakeholder complex initiatives, proven track record of meeting deliverables on time and within budget

 

Experience / Education:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience, including cost reduction/productivity improvement expertise
  • Graduate/professional designation such as MBA/CFA/CA
