The Director, Profitability Optimization and Loan Portfolio Management, plays a critical role in driving key initiatives that support profitable asset growth and manages exposure impacts across the Canadian Commercial Banking loan portfolio through the management of profitability models, pricing guidelines, and robust governance frameworks.
The Profitability Optimization and Loan Portfolio Management team serves as a strategic partner to client coverage teams, developing strategies and tactics to enhance deal profitability. It oversees revenue streams such as loan fees and net interest income and represents the business line in Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) and Capital Allocation assessments. The Director acts as a primary liaison for Finance, Global Risk Management, Treasury, Capital Management, Analytics, Technology, and third-party vendors, ensuring P&L and balance sheet management are aligned with business objectives. The role also supports partners in identifying and resolving system issues to improve efficiency and client experience.
The incumbent brings strong technical, financial, and analytical expertise, along with credit knowledge, business acumen, and the ability to communicate effectively with a broad audience, including Scotiabank executives. Strong leadership and relationship building capabilities are essential, as is deep knowledge of Commercial Banking products, services, and operations.

Client-Centric Strategy
- Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen relationships and leverage broader bank capabilities.
- Lead the development and execution of the Pricing Strategy, translating business goals into pricing objectives and KPIs.
- Identify segment/market-specific opportunities and portfolio strategies to optimize NIAT and RoRWA.
- Contribute to the strategic roadmap for Canadian Commercial Banking initiatives requiring SIP funding and represent the team in SIP prioritization planning.
- Align with Treasury, Capital Management, Finance, and Operations to identify portfolio headwinds/tailwinds and devise plans to optimize revenue and profitability.
- Ensure Canadian Commercial Banking achieves revenue, balance sheet, and profitability objectives.
- Oversee the operation of profitability platforms such as PrecisionLender.
Pricing Policy, Performance Oversight and Governance
- Develop, maintain, and refine pricing policies, principles, and guidance to inform decision-making.
- Lead communication and change management initiatives related to pricing.
- Monitor pricing strategy effectiveness using quantitative and qualitative measures.
- Facilitate pricing working group sessions and support regulatory initiatives.
- Oversee reconciliation of credit fees to credit authorizations to identify potential inefficiencies in the collection process and facilitate a remediation process with the Sales and Fulfillment team.
- Represent Commercial Banking at key committees (e.g., CB Pricing Committee)
- Contribute to financial planning, forecasting, and reporting processes across monthly, quarterly, and annual timelines.
- Lead the effective closure of audit findings and compliance-related actions.
Pricing Infrastructure and Enablement
- Develop tools, infrastructure, and training to support pricing and profitability functions.
- Optimize operational processes, systems, and policies aligned with strategy.
PrecisionLender Platform Management
- Oversee the management and development of the PrecisionLender platform and the embedded profitability engine.
- Act as lead SME for profitability inputs (product, risk, capital, FTP, costs).
- Ensure platform compliance and manage vendor relationships and budgets.
- Partner with Business Transformation and ecosystem stakeholders to integrate Salesforce, nCino, and other tools—ensuring efficiency and streamlined workflows.
Revenue Intelligence & Optimization
- Leverage analytics, AI, and competitive intelligence to drive value-based pricing and optimize revenue.
- Lead initiatives to reduce revenue leakage and implement test-and-learn strategies.
- Develop profitability trend reports and support cross-sell and prospecting initiatives.
- Utilize PrecisionLender AI features to enhance pricing effectiveness.
- Monitor and support Sales pipeline.
Team Leadership
- Manage and develop a high-performing team with expertise in pricing, analytics, loan portfolio management, client profitability modeling and platform ownership.
- Provide coaching, communication, and support to align team goals and foster engagement.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across Banking, GRM, Treasury, Credit Solutions, Business Transformation, Analytics, IT, Finance, Capital Management, GTB, GBM, and others.
- Collaborate with Treasury and Capital Management to ensure portfolio accuracy (e.g., FTP and Capital Allocation), and coordinate remediation efforts where required.
Risk and Compliance
- Integrate the Bank’s risk appetite and culture into decision-making.
- Ensure operational efficiency and adherence to Scotiabank’s values, Code of Conduct, and compliance obligations.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, Statistics, Business Administration or related field or relevant experience
- MBA or Masters in Finance
- 7+ years of experience in Client Profitability Modeling/Pricing and Financial Analysis, preferably in Financial Service industry
- 5+ years of experience in Financial Services, preferably in the Commercial space
- 5+ years of experience in Product development and/or Strategy Development
- 5+ years of experience in building and leveraging analytics for decision making
- 5+ year experience as a people manager and leading diverse teams
- Expert with Microsoft Office suite and Project Management tools
- Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI
- Strong relationship, strategic influencing and networking skills. The role requires a high degree of collaboration across wide ranging groups: Global Banking & Markets (GBM); GTB; Finance; Treasury; GRM; Wealth Management; Retail & Small Business; and various other partners/stakeholders.
- Outstanding general management and communication skills and an ongoing desire to develop / interact with supervisor / peers / reports in a positive, open and honest manner
- A track record that shows results orientation and ability to move multiple projects forward, execute and implement multiple tasks well
- Excellent analytics, strategic thinking, organizational know-how are critical for success
- Effective Pricing strategy is contingent upon excellent understanding of analytics, finance, statistics, profit drivers, product knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of pricing inputs
- Experienced professional with a solid track record of developing strategies and seeing beyond the numbers
- Expert knowledge of all key financial measures and requirements.
- Excellent analytics, strategic thinking, organizational know-how are critical for success
- Strong visionary and planning capability
- Ability to work non-standard hours as required
