Purpose
The incumbent is responsible for setting up the Practice Excellence International Office within International Wealth Management. The immediate focus of this role would include forming global-local team towards
creation and implementation of training and development initiatives, business processes, and the internal curriculum for businesses across International Wealth Management (IWM). This entails conducting needs analysis, design, delivery, evaluation and on-going maintenance of training and development programs.
The Practice Excellence International Office team is focused on enabling advice, sales and service effectiveness by aligning business strategy at the Executive Leadership Office level to the Advisory and in-field teams to deliver meaningful programs, coaching and training that elevate both the employee and client experience.
Accountabilities
• Lead the development and implementation of training initiatives, business processes and related advisory team development strategies and content that result in an exceptional client and advisor/relationship manager experience for IWM end-users by:
- Developing strategies and tactics to improve the end-to-end client and advisor/relationship manager experience, ensuring the right solutions are being presented to meet business objectives and align with IWM strategic priorities
- Communicating key internal and external wealth management insights to in-field leaders and teams; leveraging data from internal and external sources to develop value-added content and programs to further develop and grow our advisory teams across the wealth management businesses.
- Actively engaging the business leaders across IWM in enhancing the client and advisor/relationship manager experience, identifying key areas for training and development opportunities; collaborating with them on progress and support as needed
• Lead the ongoing development and delivery of development initiatives and programs by:
- Consulting on the design and delivery of programs and procedures to facilitate regulatory licensing requirements, including the development and maintenance of programs and continuing education requirements
- Lead the design and delivery of needs-based training programs to support advisory teams and leadership in effectively maximizing their professional and business development and growth opportunities.
- Developing strategies and tactics to incorporate identified industry and internal best practices into the businesses
• Lead the identification and development of training needs and solutions for IWM, in partnership with key partners such as HR and Global Wealth Management Learning by:
- Identifying the appropriate design and structure of education materials and learning solutions and developing or sourcing education materials for identified learning opportunities. Build continuous Practice Academy.
- Implementing key long and short-term strategic education solutions
- Developing & executing all strategies by managing the overall team budget on all planned initiatives and ensuring solutions have business line support and funding
- Building and maintaining strategic relationships and networks with internal training, learning and development professionals and external networks to continually improve upon the effectiveness of training
- Maintaining a detailed understanding of overall bank goals, strategies, objectives and priorities, and business line strategies, issues, and objectives.
- Working with the business lines, Subject Matter Experts, and other stakeholders to develop, implement, and evaluate solutions to business-specific training needs and ensure common emerging trends and issues are addressed in the Bank-wide learning curriculum. As appropriate, provide direct hands-on support to the design, implementation and evaluation process.
• Lead the direction of Wealth+ advisor desktop as relates to sales enablement and standards
- Work with platform owners and stakeholder teams to design and build on Wealth+ advisor desktop.
- Lead design of analytics & KPIs tracking, reporting, through Wealth+.

- Leads and drives a client-focused culture throughout their team to deepen client and advisor/relationship manager relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
- Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.
Dimensions
- Act as subject matter expert for the field, as well as provide hands on, one-on-one consultation with Advisors/Relationship Managers
- Work in partnership with All Global Wealth Management Business Lines, Support Functions and Bank Partners; managing internal and external relationships and vendors
- Effective communication and presentation skills to audiences small and large, and to senior leadership, with in-depth knowledge of advisory development best practices
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
- In-depth understanding of the wealth management industry and wealth management operations and platforms, knowledge of Salesforce an asset.
Education / Experience
• A minimum of 5 years proven experience leading sales enablement; experience in Wealth Management an asset
• Understanding of Wealth Management advisory team roles, responsibilities and processes across the advisor life cycle stages (new, developing, experienced)
• Experience leading a team, especially cross-cultural leadership
• Industry courses, e.g. CSC and CPF preferred
• A proven track record of delivering results and driving behavioural change through a collaborative, inclusive style and process that respects all partners and their respective roles and interests, and builds the lines of communication and understanding throughout all initiatives
• Knowledge of adult learning, training plans, user materials and interactive modules
• Strong presentation skills, including oral and written communication skills with the ability to deliver training strategies across multi-stakeholder initiatives to senior leadership and to in-field teams
• Strong co-ordination, strategic influencing and people management skills, to facilitate strong teamwork and co-ordinated execution of multiple deliverables
NOTE: Spanish an asset although not mandatory. Expectation to become conversant in Spanish would be expected.
