Leads and oversees Technology globally ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

The Director, Management Information System (MIS) & Process Engineering plays a critical leadership role in enabling effective technology business operations through the strategic ownership of MIS tools, process design, and cross-functional collaboration. This role serves as a key representative of the Office of the CIO (OCIO), driving operational excellence and ensuring the alignment of systems, routines, and stakeholder engagement across the enterprise.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

 

MIS Ownership & Strategy

 

  • Lead the end-to-end ownership of MIS tools and platforms that support technology business operations.
  • Act as the OCIO representative and subject matter expert (SME) for MIS tools not directly owned by the Business Operations & Strategy Enablement (BOSE) team but essential to Technology’s success.
  • Define and maintain a comprehensive MIS roadmap, ensuring tools and capabilities remain current, scalable, and aligned with business needs.

 

Process Engineering & Operational Design

 

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve operating routines and processes that underpin effective business operations.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for tooling, reporting suites, operating routines, and roles/responsibilities.

 

Stakeholder Partnership

 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Human Resources, Talent Acquisition to ensure seamless execution of MIS and process initiatives.
  • Facilitate stakeholder enablement through training, communication, and change management strategies.

 

Team & Capability Development

 

  • Build and lead a high-performing team with strong product ownership capabilities.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

 

Vendor Management

 

  • Own and manage relationships with external vendors and service providers related to MIS and process engineering tools.
  • Negotiate contracts, monitor performance, and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

  

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in technology operations, MIS, or process engineering, preferably within financial services.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing cross-functional teams and complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of MIS platforms, data governance, and reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and strategic planning skills.
  • Experience with vendor management and contract negotiation.
  • Familiarity with Canadian banking regulations and operational frameworks.
  • Experience with enterprise tools such as ServiceNow, Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
  • Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement certifications.
