As Director, Investment Management Technology Delivery, you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping the future of the Asset Management landscape within Scotia Global Asset Management (SGAM).   

This role will focus on leading SGAM Canada AI & Quantitative initiatives, driving innovation across Research, Investment, and broader Asset Management functions. You will build on existing platforms like InvestIQ to enhance research and idea generation capabilities within the Common Investment Platform (CIP), while also delivering AI and quantitative tools that support other Asset Management teams in Product, Sales, Distribution, Operations, and Finance. This is a unique opportunity to shape a rapidly growing area of focus, contributing to cutting-edge solutions as AI continues to transform the Asset Management industry. 

This is a high-impact, high-visibility role that requires a unique blend of strategic vision, deep understanding of financial markets, technical depth, and leadership excellence in order to effectively oversee critical initiatives. You will collaborate with senior stakeholders across business and technology, lead cross-functional teams, and drive transformation at scale - all while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, performance, and inclusivity.

1. Strategic Leadership 

• In collaboration with the Business, define and drive the long-term vision and roadmap for AI & Quant Tools, in addition to modernization of the SGAM Research platform. 

• Provide thought leadership to executive leaders with respect to technology, data, and innovation in Asset Management. 

• Lead transformation initiatives that align with SGAM’s global strategy. 

2. Platform Development & Optimization 

• Lead the end-to-end design, development, and continuous improvement of the SGAM platform as it relates to AI/Quant tools, and the overall research platform. 

• Ensure seamless integration across systems, enabling consistent, automated, and optimized workflows. 

3. Investment Data Strategy 

• Lead the expansion of a centralized Investment Data Hub and SGAM Data Hub to serve as the single source of truth for all of Asset Management data, enabling operational efficiency, enhanced analytics, and cost reductions. 

• Promote a data-driven culture by reducing data costs, enabling self-service analytics, and improving operational efficiency. 

4. Transformation  

• Drive large-scale transformation initiatives with a focus on user experience, adoption, technology rationalization, cost savings, and cloud migration. 

• Champion agile delivery practices, ensuring that product backlogs are aligned with strategic priorities and continuously refined. 

5. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement 

• Build strong partnerships and an elevated brand with investment teams, technology partners, operations, distribution, compliance, and finance functions. 

• Act as a liaison between the business and delivery squads, translating strategic goals into actionable technology solutions. 

• Influence and align diverse stakeholder groups across functions. 

6. Product Ownership & Governance 

• Oversee the development and prioritization of product backlogs and roadmaps for all asset management AI & Quant capabilities. 

• Ensure that product strategies are aligned with business goals amidst an evolving regulatory landscape. 

7. Leadership & Talent Development 

• Build, lead, and mentor high-performing, cross functional delivery squads. 

• Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning. 

• Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team and across the organization. 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

• Bachelor’s Degree in a Business discipline, Information Technology, Engineering, or Computer Science. 

• 8 + years of experience in Technology, Asset Management, or Capital Markets. Leadership experience is preferred. 

• CFA designation is considered an asset. 

• Proven track record of delivering large-scale transformation initiatives. 

• In-depth understanding of financial products/markets, capital markets, and investment operations. 

• In-depth knowledge and experience working with investment management applications, including Charles River, SimCorp, S&P EDM, Eagle, Barra One, and Bloomberg. 

• Knowledge and experience working with Cloud Service providers, such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure. 

• Thorough knowledge of Agile processes, development best practices, and principles. 

• Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and strategic thinking skills, with demonstrated ability to engage and influence stakeholders at different levels within an organization. 

• Strong problem solver with demonstrated analytical capabilities. 

• Excellent organizational skills, with strong attention to detail. 

• Curious and experimental mindset to drive innovation amidst uncertainty. 

• Demonstrated thought leadership abilities.
