Provide regional leadership for SME credit risk across International Banking. Set strategy, standards, and risk appetite; guide and challenge country SME risk teams; and ensure consistent, effective risk practices that support portfolio quality and sustainable growth.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Regional Strategy & Standards:
- Define the SME credit risk strategy, target operating model, and lifecycle frameworks.
- Set regional SME risk appetite, early warning indicators, and portfolio guardrails.
Functional Leadership Across Countries
- Provide expert guidance and oversight to country SME risk leads through a matrix structure.
- Lead cross-country communities of practice to share best practices and strengthen capabilities.
Portfolio Oversight & Governance:
- Monitor SME portfolio performance across markets and identify emerging risks.
- Challenge and align country strategies, policies, and initiatives to global standards and risk appetite.
Approval & Review of Country Initiatives:
- Assess SME credit programs, product changes, and decisioning enhancements.
- Recommend improvements that optimize the risk–return profile.
Transformation & Analytics:
- Lead SME-related risk transformation initiatives, including analytics, decisioning, and data improvements.
- Drive consistent reporting, diagnostics, and insights across countries.
People & Stakeholder Leadership
- Lead and develop the regional SME risk team (including Senior Managers).
- Build strong relationships with CROs, Country Risk Heads, and business partners.
Other:
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in SME credit risk, retail or commercial banking, or portfolio management.
- Deep understanding of SME lending, lifecycle risk management, scoring/decisioning, and regional risk governance.
- Demonstrated capability leading multi-country or matrix teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
- Fluency in English and Spanish required.
