Title:  Director, Global Sanctions Program Risk

The incumbent will lead Global Sanctions Program Risk related functions, and ensures sanctions related policies, procedures, standards, frameworks, and various sanctions risk related testing and assessments are developed and maintained adequately that are consistent with governing regulatory mandates, and internal bank-wide frameworks.


Key Accountabilities 


  • Leads Global Sanctions Programs Risk Management related functions. Such functions may include, but are not limited to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of the following:
    • Global Sanctions related Policies and Standards
    • Monitoring and Testing
    • Training
  • Designs and maintains relevant standards and frameworks, including key artifacts; secures required approvals; and tracks and maintains approved documentation.
  • Provides advice and counsel to business lines regarding various sanctions related policies and monitor operational processes to ensure minimum standards are being met by all key stakeholders.
  • Oversees and manages yearly enterprise and jurisdictional coverage and risk assessments for the Global Sanctions program to ensure appropriate risk management and risk identification throughout the enterprise.
  • Develops, maintains, and implements a risk-based approach and culture throughout the Global Sanctions Program.

  • Ensures that management expectations, including accountabilities, objectives, and both team and individual goals are effectively communicated and monitored for all direct reports.
  • Provides ongoing coaching to direct reports.
  • Empowers all team members to develop creative and strategic solutions, including streamlining processes and planning initiatives, where appropriate.
  • Drives collaboration and efficiency across multiple teams globally in connection with the range of program execution and oversight tasks associated with financial crimes and sanctions.
  • Builds strong partnerships with Business Lines, Internal Audit, Technology, Data Governance, and other key stakeholders in connection with the Bank’s AML Risk Program, and working collaboratively across functional teams to resolve open issues in a timely and effective manner.


Experience / Education:


  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years in governance and reporting, program management and governance, or other related functions in financial services or government. 
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements with respect to sanctions compliance. 
  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, project management, and planning skills.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of business, products, operations, systems, and organization for financial services sector.
