Global Banking and Markets

Global Banking and Markets (GBM) conducts the Bank’s wholesale banking and capital markets business with corporate, government and institutional investor clients. GBM is a full-service wholesale bank and investment dealer in Canada and Mexico and offers a range of products and services in the U.S., Latin America and in select markets in Europe and Asia-Pacific.

 

More specifically, GBM provides clients with: corporate lending; transaction banking (including payments, trade finance and cash management); investment banking (including corporate finance and mergers & acquisitions); fixed income and equity underwriting, sales, trading and research; prime services (prime brokerage and stock lending); foreign exchange sales and trading; commodity derivatives; and collateral management.

 

Position Highlights

Contributes to the overall success of the GLS activity in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Support Relationship Managers and the Head of Syndications in the structuring / distribution of transactions
  • Hold primary responsibility for a portfolio of accounts within a specific industry and acts as a Lead on a Syndication
  • Prepares and present pitch books, offering memorandums, marketing materials and investor presentations
  • Interact with multi product teams regularly and support all of Corporate Banking and Canadian Commercial Banking, nationally
  • Extensive experience in the structuring and marketing of loans to our Scotiabank business clients
  • Opine on suitability of Underwritten and Arranged transactions to Global Risk Management
  • Develop product, industry and market expertise in all industry groups
  • Develop and maintain a broad network of both internal and external contacts within the Canadian bank market
  • Develop strategies to maximize fee retention and minimize potential overholds
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • 8-10 years of Corporate Lending or Loan Syndications experience in a leadership role
  • Detailed knowledge of the Syndicated Markets and the various financing options available to our clients

 

Work Arrangement:

This position is an onsite role, with the expectation that you will work 5 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business. #LI-Onsite #GBM
