The Role
As Director, GBM Onboarding, you will lead a global team responsible for KYC, AML, derivatives, and margin onboarding activities across Global Banking & Markets. You will ensure consistent, compliant, and efficient onboarding practices across jurisdictions, while driving process standardization, regulatory alignment, and an improved client experience.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Lead global onboarding operations across KYC, AML, derivatives, and margin processes for GBM clients
- Oversee end-to-end onboarding activities across jurisdictions, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and regulatory requirements
- Act as an escalation point for complex onboarding issues, coordinating with internal stakeholders to drive timely resolution
- Partner with regional and global teams to deliver consistent and compliant onboarding outcomes across markets
- Drive standardization of onboarding processes across GBM jurisdictions, improving efficiency and client experience
- Lead the design and implementation of process enhancements and technology solutions to streamline onboarding workflows
- Contribute to the development of centralized onboarding models, including hub structures and automation initiatives
- Ensure operational execution aligns with GBM KYC & Derivatives Program policies, regulatory requirements, and internal controls
- Support regulatory and system-driven change initiatives, including defining business requirements, testing, and implementation
- Oversee onboarding capacity, workflow allocation, and performance across global teams
- Support hiring, staffing, and development of onboarding teams across regions
- Maintain strong alignment with internal stakeholders across Front, Middle, and Back Office functions
- Drive continuous improvement through process optimization, regulatory adaptation, and evolving business requirements
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:
- Graduate degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline
- Prior experience in wholesale banking / capital markets, with direct exposure to client onboarding, KYC/AML, derivatives, and margin processes
- Deep knowledge of global regulatory frameworks impacting onboarding (e.g., FINTRAC, OSFI, U.S. and UK regulations)
- Experience managing cross-border onboarding processes across multiple jurisdictions (Canada, U.S., UK)
- Strong understanding of capital markets products, financial instruments, and end-to-end workflows across Front, Middle, and Back Office
- Proven experience designing and implementing onboarding process improvements, standardization initiatives, and operating models
- Experience leading technology or transformation initiatives, including defining business requirements, supporting business cases, and participating in system testing and implementation
- Prior experience managing global onboarding operations or large-scale operational teams
- Knowledge of derivatives onboarding, margin processes, and related compliance requirements
- Experience working within regulated environments with strict compliance, control, and audit requirements
