The Team

The Global Cash Management Technology team within Global Payments & Core Banking Engineering, is responsible for building and supporting Scotiabank’s global cash management platforms strategy, aiming for consolidating the whole international cash management portfolio to create a unique value offer to our corporate and commercial clients in our footprint with strong presence in the Americas (Canada, United States, Mexico and Latin America). The Director of this group oversees delivery and support of global-first customer facing channels, defining best practices that supports the strategy long term in alignment with business goals, regulatory requirements, and enterprise architecture standards, while fostering a high-performance, inclusive team culture.

 

Is this role right for you?

  • Define, maintain and own the technology products implementation strategy and delivery roadmap in partnership with the business.
  • Work closely with engineering and architecture teams across PCBE, International Banking and Scotiabank to execute your strategy and find synergies that could lead to a win-win scenario.
  • Research and maintain expert knowledge on technology industry trends, and product offerings that would serve our goals.
  • Lead and champion a continuous improvement practice internally.
  • Champion a mindset of outcomes delivery and agile values.
  • Lead the development of business cases to allocate required funding and time, with support from internal and external partners.
  • Develop the core positioning and messaging for the platform milestones.
  • Keep a close connection with business and stakeholders providing full visibility through the execution of the budget and plans.

  • Inspire teams to deliver value following a proactive client centric approach.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • 10+ years of experience in software delivery at large enterprises to deliver business technology solutions.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or other related field, OR equivalent work experience.
  • Business knowledge and experience; understanding of vision, financial objectives/how business functions and core processes interact/the strategic importance of projects, how they relate to Scotiabank's goals, how projects interact and impact change and/or delays in projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, practices and techniques for managing the activities related to planning, managing and implementing software projects and programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of programming languages, frameworks, utilities, and other technologies used by the team.
  • Process knowledge and experience in scheduling, resource allocation, risk management and systems design.
  • Project management of highly complex technology projects.
  • Vendor management experience, including contract negotiations and managing external contractors.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage team members with differing skill levels and experience
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders with competing priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and client relationship management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving to rapidly assess risks and issues.
  • Project management skills to map and execute short- and long-term plans for the team.
  • Excellent organization, planning, and time management skills with proven ability to manage multiple competing and complex initiatives.
