This role is the singular driving perspective for Loyalty analytics, insights and financial performance at Scotiabank. The Director designs, implements and iterates on how Loyalty analytics work in service of financial performance and the roadmap for insight-generated functions for the Loyalty team. In concert with a clear understanding of performance drivers and Loyalty’s strategic direction, the role contributes to the overall business objectives of Cards, Loyalty, Payments & Client Experience.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Loyalty Analytics and Insights Leadership
    • Generate data-driven business insights
      • Analyze customer behavior, earn/redemption patterns, and program engagement to identify trends, risks, and opportunities across banking, partnerships and loyalty program members.
      • Translate insights into recommendations that influence program design, value proposition, marketing planning and financial performance.
    • Deliver strategic KPI frameworks and performance storytelling
      • Visualization and analytical frameworks that synthesize financial and customer data into clear, executive-level insights.
      • Identify drivers of performance and intent trends across retail banking and partnerships leveraging digital and POS channels.
    • Integrate data across internal and external ecosystems
      • Define analytics opportunities and requirements, creating alignment across analytics partners, platforms, and financial models.
      • Leverage external benchmarks and industry insights to enhance internal modeling approaches.
    • Advance analytics innovation
      • Introduce new methodologies, tools, and analytical techniques to improve predictive accuracy and insight generation.
      • Drive continuous improvement in data quality, acquisition, modeling capabilities, and insight delivery.
      • Provide recommendations on leveraging AI for agility and integration of marketing plans.

 

  • Loyalty Financial Analysis
    • Lead advanced liability modeling and forecasting
      • Design, refine, and interpret financial and actuarial models to project loyalty program liabilities and customer redemption behavior.
      • Continuously strengthen models using internal data and external expertise.
    • Financial performance analytics
      • Develop and oversee key financial metrics including cost per point, earn-to-burn ratios, redemption mix, and liability trends.
      • Provide forward-looking analysis to support financial planning, forecasting, and scenario modelling.
    • Enable data-informed business casing
      • Develop robust financial models and scenario analyses to evaluate new loyalty strategies, partnerships, and reward structures.
      • Assess ROI, cost implications, and long-term liability impact of proposed initiatives.
    • Act as a central analytics partner to Finance and Strategy teams
      • Provide insights on loyalty P&L, financial forecasts, and liability drivers to support enterprise financial decision-making.
      • Align analytics with broader financial planning and business strategy priorities.
    • Provide strategic risk insight
      • Assess financial and behavioural risks embedded in loyalty programs, incorporating risk appetite considerations into modeling and analysis.
      • Highlight potential exposure and mitigation strategies through data-driven insights.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Business Degree or MBA. CFA/CPA considered an asset
  • Strong background in finance, mathematics, and/or actuarial science
  • 5+ years in loyalty analytics, loyalty finance, loyalty rewards or consulting
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of global loyalty financial analytics trends and business models
  • Strong modelling and business casing skills
  • Excellent written, presentation and communication skills, ability to communicate on a broad spectrum (from operational discussions to high-level, executive vision)
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking capabilities
  • Excellent attention to detail, initiative and strong translation skills to relay analytics findings into business outcomes and recommendations.
  • Results-oriented, self-starter, with highly effective strategic influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and lead team through times where deliverables are high pressure/high risk/tight timelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment with a proven ability to meet multiple deadlines and tasks.
  • Excellent project delivery skills, with proven accomplishments leading cross-functional projects.
