About the role:


Scotiabank’s FX Centre of Excellence will centralize and strengthen FX product development and deployment across all business segments, working closely with our technology and business partners. 

As Director, FX Innovation and Execution, reporting into Global Capital Markets, you will be responsible for proactively managing FX innovation, product development, and distribution to advance our broader FX growth ambitions and implementing scalable, modern solutions that support our long-term strategy. Your mandate will focus on advancing key initiatives, working closely with technology, delivery, and enterprise partners, while shaping forward-looking FX product development. This role will require a unique candidate with the right subject matter expertise and a track record of successfully executed, collaborative initiatives.  

For a motivated, strategic thinker, this is a rare opportunity to lead a team that will directly influence the growth trajectory of FX within one of Canada’s leading financial institutions while engaging with the Bank’s most senior leaders.


What will you do?


As a Director, FX Innovation and Execution, you will: 

  • Lead and collaborate with business partners to define and manage FX product development priorities, key innovation initiatives, and strategic execution roadmaps
  • Accountable for a cross-functional working group to drive and review solution delivery progress and validate business outcomes
  • Build materials for regular senior executive briefings to maintain alignment and delivery timelines, and reinforce strategic messaging
  • Regularly monitor FX, digital assets, payments, and fintech trends to identify opportunities and risks
  • Represent the FX Centre of Excellence in internal forums and committees
  • Build strong partnerships across business lines and functions, and technology teams
  • Manage an evolving portfolio of multiple FX product and innovation initiatives
  • Provide insights on competitive dynamics in FX and payments markets
  • Driving adoption of FX innovations (tools, products, and solutions)


What do you need to succeed?

  • A bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of experience in capital markets, strategy consulting, and/or financial technology
  • Deep knowledge of FX Sales & Trading, including familiarity with post‑trade workflows and payments/money movement
  • Exposure to FX/payments fintech platforms or vendor management
  • A strong record of high performance and successful product/project delivery  
  • The ability to simplify and clearly communicate complex ideas
  •  A self-aware and discerning communication style that adapts to different audiences (Sales & Trading, Technology, Enterprise, Executives)
  • Curiosity, critical thinking, and comfort challenging conventional approaches
  • The ability to navigate fast-paced environments and balance competing priorities
  • Accountability, resilience, and a drive to succeed
  • Experience influencing and success in working with diverse stakeholder groups, and supporting organizational change
  • Experience on the buy or sell side in sales or trading is an asset
  • Graduate degree (MBA or Master’s in business, finance, or technology) is an asset
  • CFA designation is an asset
  • Background in digital product management

Work Arrangement:

This position is currently an onsite role, with the expectation that you will work 5 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
