Job Purpose
The Director of Engineering Production Operations is accountable and responsible for the 24/7 Mobile and Web channels operations. This role champions client experience first culture and operates with the mindset of outages by seconds in incident and problem management practices.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Manages a team of IT professionals (direct and indirect reports) and is responsible for proactive & reactive digital application operations in the production environment and a strong advocate of SRE culture & hands-on practice.
- You celebrate service outages prevented rather than responded to, and have a continuous improvement mindset in both processes and tooling.
- Own assigned application support portfolio and manage relationships with key stakeholders, and can effective create and maintain application service metrics
- Develop, execute, align, and maintain operational strategies for client facing applications to deliver innovative short, medium, and long term solutions while managing a team that provides 24/7 day to day support
- Provide technical directions on production problem resolution and short to long term resilience plan as well as execution
- Owns & manages outage communication, stability metrics and relationship with all areas of the enterprise including technology, front line operations and business partners
- Participates in budgeting processes and continuous improvement activities for the department.
- Accountable for managing assigned project and/or departmental budgets.
- Meets scheduled milestones to ensure project/program objectives are met in a timely manner, are in compliance with engineering roadmap and has an in-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, practices and techniques for managing the activities related to planning, managing and implementing software projects and programs.
- Collaborates with Release Management and Partner Development teams to ensure successful planning and implementation.
- Maintain Audit, Security and Accessibility compliance at all times.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- 5+ years in senior technology operations leadership
- Proven track record of managing application operations in large complex hybrid cloud environment
- Strong knowledge of monitoring practice and software such as Dynatrace, ThousandEyes, Datadog, Splunk..etc.
- Solid understanding of web/mobile application and microservices architecture concepts, components, models, patterns
- Strong infrastructure knowledge and preferably hands on experience with GCP/Azure
- Knowledge of a variety of technologies and frameworks (Java, Angular, React, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of agile principles and project management methodologies
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to distill technical details into human terms and to influence decision making across stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and mentor team members with differing opinions and levels of experience.
- Strong presentational and reporting skills
- Effective organization, planning, prioritization and time management skills in a high pressure environment
- Overtime and 24/7 on call support is often required to lead emergency situations
