Purpose:

The Director, Digital Platforms & Guided Investment Strategy is responsible for senior leadership ownership of digital platform strategy and business outcomes for Scotia iTRADE, including platform performance, strategic direction, client experience, and the end-to-end ladder from self-directed investing into advice and wealth.

The role provides Director-level accountability for platform roadmap governance and strategic requirements shaping with Digital and Technology teams, including cross-functional prioritization, stakeholder alignment, and decision-making authority across key platforms and digitally guided investing initiatives.

This role operates in a fast-paced, agile environment and requires strong leadership across client journeys, voice of client, usability optimization, and measurement of platform and advice outcomes including adoption, conversion, and handoffs.

Major Accountabilities:

Digital Platforms & Guided Investment Strategy

  • Own digital platform strategy and business outcomes for Scotia iTRADE, including investing, planning, and advice-adjacent tools, with Director-level accountability for platform performance, strategic direction, and client experience.
  • Lead platform roadmap governance and strategic requirements shaping with Digital and Technology teams, including cross-functional prioritization, stakeholder alignment, dependency management, and decision-making authority.
  • Own guided investing strategy and the ladder-into-wealth strategy, translating business goals and client needs into sequenced initiatives that improve the path from self-directed investing toward broader advice and wealth solutions.
  • Lead client journey design, voice-of-client integration, and usability optimization to strengthen the digital investing experience and improve measurable client and business outcomes.
  • Define and oversee platform and advice outcome measurement, including adoption, conversion, handoffs, journey performance, and other core KPIs used to guide prioritization and continuous improvement.

 

Cross Functional Leadership & Execution

  • Act as the accountable business owner for digital platforms and guided investment strategy outcomes, partnering closely with Digital, Technology, Data, Risk, Wealth, and other key stakeholders.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver against strategic priorities, resolve dependencies, and balance scope, timing, and investment decisions in support of platform modernization and guided investing objectives.
  • Support strategic decisions on platform capabilities, partner models, and delivery approaches to strengthen execution speed, accountability, and long-term scalability.


Financial Ownership & Investment Discipline

  • Own the business case, investment narrative, and ongoing performance management for Hybrid Advice & Guided Investing
  • Manage a material annual investment budget, ensuring disciplined spend and clear linkage to business outcomes.
  • Define and track success metrics across adoption, engagement, conversion, and retention.
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Finance, Retail, and Wealth stakeholders to align client journey design with commercial levers (pricing, bundles, benefits, and future advisory offerings).


Performance Measurement and Continuous Improvement

  • Define and monitor success metrics across the hybrid journey (e.g., risk profile completion, tool usage, tool to trade conversion, etc.).
  • Use data and insights to continuously refine the experience and inform roadmap decisions.
  • Develop program-level governance and reporting, including socialization of results with senior leadership to demonstrate progress and inform future strategic direction.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education, Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Professional designations (e.g., CFA, CFP) are an asset but not required
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in financial services, wealth management, investing platforms, or digital financial products
  • Minimum 5 years in a leadership role within Direct Investing, Retail Investments, or closely related wealth management businesses, with accountability for business outcomes
  • Proven experience owning and scaling client facing investment capabilities, such as: Direct investing platforms, guided or self directed investing journeys, portfolio construction and/or related investing tools
  • Demonstrated success leading large, cross functional initiatives involving Product, Technology, Data, and Compliance partners
  • Familiarity with Canadian retail investor segments and investor behaviours
  • Experience developing and owning multi year roadmaps, business cases, and investment plans
  • Strong exposure to operating in a highly regulated environment, with the ability to balance innovation, risk, and client outcomes
  • Experience managing material budgets and investment decisions with senior executive oversight
  • Established track record of performance and professional credibility
