The Team

Scotiabank’s Financial Crimes and Operation Risk Engineering is responsible for running global services that provide the detection and investigation capabilities to meet our Financial Crime regulatory requirements in the different jurisdictions that Scotiabank operates in.  We do this in partnership with the Global Financial Crime business to deliver core business capabilities to the enterprise.  We’ll work with the different technology teams as we provide an integrated solution both locally and with other global systems team.  We support the Investigation Units that support the Financial Crime space as well.

 

The Role

As Director of AML Development, you will be responsible for managing key platforms that our business partners rely on to adhere to regulatory commitments and protect our customers.  Also working with the business owners of the different services to enhance common AML services to grow the business capabilities.  To achieve this, you will work with internal development staff and our vendors to maintain and enhance the applications within your portfolio.

 

Some of the key accountabilities include:

  • Ensuring applications are well maintained by identifying and eliminate technical debt
  • Design and implementation of best practices/processes.
  • Partner with multiple teams across the bank to collaborate on strategy and direction.
  • Present and leverage technical information and solutions in a way that establishes trust relationships, persuade stakeholders, and achieve understanding and consensus at all levels.
  • Ability to showcase progress in projects/initiatives/programs, holding people accountable to their commitments and making sure we are on track for successful delivery.

 

What You Will Bring to Succeed

  • You have at least 6+ years of working experience in managing at least 20 or more technical resources & providing technical leadership
  • Proven technical leadership experience with both internal and managed service provider teams
  • Experience in managing software vendors, driving feature requests within vendor products to managing operational support from vendors
  • Attention to details, high standards for quality, ability to balance risk with technological advancements.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with ability to build and foster relationships with business users, project stakeholders, strategic technology partners and external vendors and clients.
  • Commitment to maintaining a diversified set of skills through continued education and mentoring peers, team members, and clients.
