The Role 


As the Director, Data Product, you will be a key leader within the CIDA team, responsible for the strategy, roadmap, and execution of a specific portfolio of data products. Reporting to the VP, you will work closely with analytics, technology, and business unit leaders to drive the value of data assets. You will lead a team of product managers and owners to deliver high-quality, reusable data solutions that empower data consumers and accelerate business outcomes.

•    Own the Product Roadmap: Develop and manage a prioritized roadmap for your data product portfolio, aligning with the overall data strategy and vision set by leadership.
•    Drive Product Execution: Lead your team in conceptualizing, designing, and delivering data products. Author and approve high-quality specifications and requirements to solve key business problems.
•    Champion Data Value: Articulate the vision and value of your data products to stakeholders and internal customers, demonstrating how they can be leveraged to drive tangible business impact.
•    Lead and Develop Teams: Manage and mentor a team of Data Product Managers and Owners, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and inclusivity.
•    Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with senior stakeholders in business, technology, and analytics to understand their needs, influence priorities, and ensure your products are driving real business outcomes.
•    Foster a Data-Driven Culture: Deepen relationships with data consumers and champion the adoption of data products, contributing to a broader culture of data-driven decision-making across the Bank.
•    Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
•    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

•    The incumbent is required to exercise a high degree of independent judgment on very large, complex projects and initiatives spanning numerous functional areas, involving large numbers of resources with diverse skills, leading through both direct and indirect supervision, abilities, backgrounds and competencies.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?


•    Product Management Expertise: 7+ years of proven product management experience, preferably in a data, analytics, or complex enterprise environment.
•    Business Acumen: Ability to understand the financial services landscape, identify business opportunities leveraging data, & translate strategic goals into actionable data product strategies.
•    Leadership Skills: Demonstrated experience in leading and developing high-performing teams, with a passion for mentoring talent.
•    Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and creatively, solve ambiguous and complex problems, and translate business needs into a clear product vision and roadmap.
•    Stakeholder Influence: Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and align stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
•    Data Fluency & Analytical Aptitude: Deep understanding of data principles, analytics methodologies, and the ability to interpret complex data to derive meaningful insights and inform product decisions.
•    Results Orientation & Value Focus: Strong drive to deliver measurable business value from data products, defining and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to demonstrate impact.
•    Agile & Technical Experience: Experience with agile delivery frameworks and a solid understanding of the analytics and data science lifecycle. Experience with Cloud Data Solutions and software engineering best practices is a strong asset.

            
Working Conditions


•    Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.  
•    The business environment is fast-paced, complex and demanding.  Heavy pressure also arises from the need to manage potential conflicting priorities constructively.  
•    The role may require long hours in preparation of documents and presentations.
