As a member of the Data Governance Office, contributes to the implementation of enterprise data policies and data governance that enable the generation of monthly and quarterly deliverables that contribute to the success of the Financial Management team in support of Retail Small Business Wealth Management Credit Risk. The team is responsible for defining and implementing data governance and data management standards and processes for Global Retail Portfolios aligned with enterprise data management policies and in accordance to bank standards and in compliance with regulatory requirements including Risk Data Aggregation & Reporting standards. 


The incumbent is responsible for implementing retail credit risk data policies by defining data management standards and processes and leading a team that monitors compliance of data policies across the Global Retail Credit Risk portfolios to ensure availability of high quality data. The incumbent will provide daily oversight and strategy execution of data governance and data quality framework consistent with the organizations goals and objectives.




Data Governance Oversight and Management

  • Creates and implements retail credit risk data governance framework / roles & responsibilities that meets data objectives for Global Retail Credit Risk and aligns with Data Office
  • Establishes and executes the Global Retail Credit Risk data governance standards and processes, which includes end-to-end process and data quality framework for assessing decisions that ensure the suitability of data for its intended purpose.  Defines and implements data governance management tools aligned with enterprise strategy
  • Oversees the mandate of Global Retail Credit Risk Data Council, establishing regular meetings and distribution of material for review, input and decisions from council members.
  • Assesses data repositories for compliance with data governance policies and standards. Works with all areas of the business to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Manages the creation of compliance reports, supporting all self-assessments, internal and external regulatory reviews as required


Data Quality Management and Oversight

  • Develops and manages execution of data quality standards and processes in line with the enterprise data management policies and guidelines
  • Works with business owners to define and establish data quality rules and definitions consistent with Global Retail Credit Risk’s organizational needs
  • Develops data quality metrics that identify gaps and ensure compliance with standards across Global Retail Credit Risk, establishing data quality process, governance, and issue tracking process tools.
  • Establishes processes to continuously monitor data quality. Ensures processes are in place to proactively detect, correct, and prevent invalid data values.  Works with business and IT partners to remediate identified gaps using both manual and automated solutions.


Data Lineage Management and Oversight

  • Develops and manages execution of data lineage standards and processes in line with the enterprise data management policies and guidelines
  • Works with business owners to define and establish data lineage/association rules and definitions consistent with Global Retail Credit Risk organizational needs


Data Management and Operations

  • Manages manual operational data feeds sourced from the international jurisdictions
  • Establishes operational reasonableness reporting and monitoring for inbound data
  • Oversees the continuous improvement of the data reliability through automation and change management
  • Servers as an escalation point for operational issues related to manual data received form countries.


Management/ Leadership

  • Manages direct reports and projects to achieve department goals in accordance with company policies and practices
  • Creates an effective work environment by developing a common vision, setting clear objectives, expecting teamwork, recognizing outstanding performance, and maintaining open communications
  • Develops team through coaching, providing performance feedback, providing effective performance assessments, and establishing performance & development



Education / Experience:

  • Expert knowledge of data governance including regulatory requirements and industry practices
  • Proven leadership in data management processes (includes data quality, data lineage/ metadata, master data / reference data)
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of financial services industry and Risk management
  • Leadership and management experience, with excellent interpersonal, communication (written/verbal), team building and negotiation skills
  • Excellent skills in leadership, project management, time management, analysis & process design, mentoring and coaching, demonstrated adaptability and strong problem-solving skills
  • Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in quantitative area, Professional financial designation or MBA preferred
