Title:  Director, Customer Value Proposition Design

Purpose
 

The Director leads and oversees the customer value proposition design for Insurance in Canada – Creditor and Direct to Consumer businesses, to establish relevant and meaningful offerings, and optimized customer journeys while ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Accountabilities
 

  • Design optimized customer journeys across the entire insurance value chain (in consultation with the Scotia Digital, CB technology, and our internal and external business partners: Retail Distribution, RPUL, Small Business, Auto, RESL, and Contact Centres) to drive improved value for our customers and overall growth and profitability
  • Perform customer segmentation analysis (with Business Analytics) for optimized revenue and customer lifetime value analysis to drive the right solutions for each segment
  • Lead the design and development of new product offerings and the continuous improvement to existing products and journeys. This includes all business line partner integration efforts with Credit Cards, RESL, Unsecured Line of Credit, Digital Factory and with our strategic partners: Chubb, Canada Life, Manulife, RSA Johnson/Intact, etc
  • Leverage market research and develop competitive analyses to inform business decisions
  • Advise and work with our external partners to define and evolve business needs and requirements for the D2C & Creditor platform evolution
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team
  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge

 

Requirements
 

  • Highly knowledgeable and demonstrated ability to develop sound customer value proposition design strategies
  • Excellent persuasion and negotiating skills, to build constructive, supported solutions often in the absence of direct decision authority
  • Thorough understanding of insurance and financial planning concepts
  • High credibility with senior management team, channel line management as well as business lines and other functional areas across the Canadian Bank
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once, with limited support
  • Excellent planning and strategic thinking skills, with solid understanding of P/L levers and competitive landscape
  • Highly proficient PowerPoint skills with the ability to build long term strategies, tell the story and execute on the plans
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business and/or MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Insurance experience is highly preferred
