The Role

As Director, Canadian Banking Reconciliations, you will provide strategic leadership for a large-scale reconciliation operations function supporting key Canadian Banking products and services. You will lead a high-performing team responsible for reconciliation governance, exception management, settlements, garnishments, operational excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

This role requires a strong leader who can drive operational performance, manage risk, enhance controls, and deliver transformation initiatives while partnering with stakeholders across the Bank.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

  • Lead the strategic and day-to-day management of the Reconciliations Operations team, ensuring service excellence, operational efficiency, and strong risk management.
  • Provide leadership to a large, geographically diverse team, fostering a high-performance, client-focused, and inclusive culture.
  • Oversee reconciliation governance, exception management, and control processes related to the Bank's general ledger accounts.
  • Ensure timely resolution of operational issues while minimizing client and business impact.
  • Drive continuous improvement and transformation initiatives to enhance scalability, efficiency, and service delivery.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Operations, Branches, Finance, Risk, Technology, and Business Lines to support business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and operational risk standards.
  • Manage operational performance, productivity, service levels, and expense budgets.
  • Provide leadership and guidance through organizational change, process enhancements, and strategic initiatives.
  • Champion employee engagement, talent development, succession planning, and leadership capability building.
  • Promote a strong risk culture and ensure effective controls are embedded in daily operations.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Operations Management or a related discipline. CPA designation is considered an asset.
  • Progressive leadership experience within banking operations, reconciliations, accounting operations, finance operations, or a related financial services environment.
  • Knowledge of reconciliation processes, exception management, general ledger controls, and accounting operational practices.
  • Experience leading large-scale operational teams within a high-volume, complex environment.
  • Understanding of operational risk management, internal controls, regulatory requirements, and governance practices.
  • Experience overseeing operational change initiatives, process improvement programs, and transformation projects.
  • Knowledge of Canadian banking products, processes, and operational workflows across retail, commercial, and lending businesses.
  • Experience managing operational budgets, productivity metrics, service levels, and performance reporting.
  • Knowledge of reconciliation platforms, workflow applications, and operational systems used within banking and financial services environments.
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed teams and large-scale operations functions.

 

Optional / Nice-to-Have

  • CPA, CFA, PMP or Lean Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience with enterprise reconciliation platforms such as BlackLine or similar solutions.
  • Experience leading offshore or multi-location operations teams.
  • Previous experience in Canadian retail banking operations.
