Title:  Director, Business and Strategic Investments / IB Portfolio Management Office

Provides strategic support for Business Investment function within the IB Portfolio Management Office (IB PMO) in International Banking Finance. The incumbent is responsible of ensuring the goals, plans and execution of the initiatives in the IB Portfolio are delivered in support of the Bank’s business strategies and objectives.

 

Accountabilities 

  • Drives the financial review of IB Strategic Priorities (Real Estate & Technology business cases) to obtain sign off from SVP & CFO IB
    • Directing all aspects of major strategic financial review/change initiatives of IB and countries;
    • Responsible for ensuring detailed cost/benefits analysis is completed, discussed and negotiated with senior IB leadership
    • Liaising with Partners across Commercial / Corporate / Retail / Small Business / Wealth Management/ Insurance
    • Key technology platforms and branch/non-Branch systems (i.e. Scotia Pro, Scotia Globe, CRM etc.); software programs, (i.e.MS Project, MS Office suite) 
  • Responsible for providing IB Small Funding Committee comprised of Senior Executive Management and business line management in IB with insights to make decisions about the project portfolio and capacity
  • Responsible for providing Post Implementation Review of Real Estate & Strategic technology business cases to the Small Funding Committee
  • Leads and coordinates end-to-end Strategic, ROE and #WIN investments governance process to support and monitor high-priority strategic priorities in International Banking
  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.  Provides service excellence through leadership and counsel to International Banking teams and local PMO’s, engaging in regular discussions improving the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of the project planning and execution:
    • providing guidance and insight to local recommendations and portfolio management
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient planning and execution of IB Portfolio Projects, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct 
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vision/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team 
  • Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams

 


Education / Experience / Other Information Required: 

  • 5+ years of experience in project governance and cost reduction, experience in Banking or prior consulting experience preferred
  • Strong business acumen and organizational skills
  • Solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Expert knowledge and demonstrated experience with Change Management Practices and Strategies, Program Management Disciplines and Governance Framework 
  • Experience in CA PPM Tool is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal for interacting with offices with varying cross cultural and language differences
  • Advanced leadership skills in Building Strategic Relationships, Customer Focus and Coaching
  • Spanish fluency is an asset
