Set the strategic direction of Business Architecture and enabling enterprise-wide alignment across domains. The role drives governance, capability roadmaps, and executive engagement to ensure strategy translates into impactful execution.

 

Business Architecture optimizes the transition of strategy to execution, with streamlined investment decisions.  The team does this through:

  • Creating business-driven, customer-centric, front to back transformation roadmaps
  • Identifying optimized, re-usable capabilities that are supported by streamlined people, process, technology and data components
  • Establishing business-driven, cross-functional governance of business transformations

 

This role contributes to the overall success of the Canadian Bank (Retail, Small Business and/or Business Banking) ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

  • Shape the overall vision and mandate of Business Architecture across the Canadian Bank
  • Establish and oversee governance frameworks to ensure consistent, enterprise-aligned transformation execution.
  • Define enterprise-level capability roadmaps and ensure investments are prioritized against strategic objectives.
  • Act as a senior advisor to executives, influencing decisions on transformation priorities and cross-business integration.
  • Champion a culture of customer centricity, innovation, and high performance across the function.
  • Relentless dedication to stakeholder management and engagement across Business Architecture partners and business units
  • Business Architecture Artefacts & Processes
  • Develop, update, and maintain business architecture artefacts (e.g., business capability maps)
  • Lead the effort to identify and document capabilities, initiative needs and strategic prioritization into business architecture deliverables (roadmaps, etc.)
  • Understand business objectives for assigned domains and enable the design of future state capabilities (people, process, technology, data), while ensuring alignment with the strategic vision
  • Identify impacts to Business Capabilities by participating in transformation programs & initiatives
  • Map processes to business capabilities by collaborating with appropriate SMEs
  • Engage in all phases of ongoing critical initiatives including target state definition, design & execution
  • Support various initiatives across teams, by identifying relevant opportunities for rationalization, transformation & simplification
  • Analyze industry & market trends to determine new & potential business capabilities
  • Participate in agile squads/sprints to support the delivery of enhancements to existing capabilities or new capabilities and functions
  • Work closely with technology project teams, to ensure the projects are aligned across priorities, minimize rework and ensure cross-business line collaboration.  
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective area in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Relevant business line background/experience to ensure consistent view of evolving business needs
  • Strong understanding of architecture, systems & integration
  • Ability to apply architectural principles to business solutions
  • Knowledge in Project Management & Training/ Experience in Agile Methodology
  • Experience using model-based representations & ability to visualize & create high level models
  • Education (Business degree or similar)/Work Experience (5+ years of practical experience)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving
