Purpose
Leads and oversees the Compliance Behavioural Science and Learning Programs, ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed/delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Accountabilities

Behavioural Science Program:
- Leads the application of behavioural science research methods, and innovative insight into human decision-making to understand, predict and align employee behaviour to Bank policy and government regulations. This includes predictive analytics and experimentation.
- Champions the use of Behavioural Science across Global Compliance by developing behavioural science tools and educating employees so they can apply the insights from behavioural science to support managing relevant risks. Areas of focus include Conduct Risk, Risk Culture and ABAC.
Learning Program:
- Leads the development and implementation of the Global Compliance learning plan which ensures employees have the necessary knowledge to conduct their activities in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, standards, and Bank Policies including Risk Culture, ABAC, Volcker Rule, Code of Conduct.
- Conducts the Learning Needs Assessment Process with 2A and 2B partners that identifies opportunities for employee knowledge enhancement arising from regulatory changes, regulatory exam findings, risk assessments, industry trends and lesson learned related to the Global Compliance program.
- Develops eLearning and instructor-led training program to equip GC employees, and key roles across the 3LOD, with the knowledge, skills and competencies to create a best-in-class Global Compliance program. This includes topics related to core GC knowledge and those related to the Skills of the Future.
General:
- Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
- Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.
Education/Experience
- University Graduate Degree in Organizational Behavior, Business Psychology or Behavioural Science or Behavioural Economics
- 5 to 10 years experience in financial services.
- Behavioural Research and Data Analytics
- Learning Program Design, Implementation, and Delivery
- Maintains current knowledge of industry requirements and monitors advancements in industry standards related to conduct risks to guide organizational adaptation and compliance
- Spanish fluency is an asset but not essential
