Purpose

 

Leads and oversees the Project Portfolio at a strategic level, of the Technology, Project Governance, PMO & Reporting office in Canada and LATAM countries ensuring that projects align with business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered within the agreed scope, time, budget, and quality in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

The Director, Project Management Office will work closely with senior management, business line leads, technology partners and diverse set of stakeholders to lead execution of strategic projects, to prioritize key initiatives, ensure proper resource allocation and support execution monitoring, ensuring visibility of project progress at the Executive Level

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Lead the planning, design, implementation, and operationalization of all-bank wide projects that are aimed at advancing goals and strategic priorities involving diverse set of stakeholders and project teams.
  • Oversee and manage multiple projects, ensuring that the organization's strategic priorities are reflected in project execution.
  • Bridge silos and enable alignment across the region to ensure the vision and objectives of the large-scale transformation. Act as the main point of contact between senior management and project teams, ensuring smooth communication and project visibility at the executive level.
  • Lead a broad range of strategy execution engagement, including Data, Software Currency, Hardware Currency, Modernization, Regulatory and Strategic projects and initiatives at the All-Bank level. This involves managing large cross-functional teams including designing and developing roadmaps, issue identification, analysis to assess impact on financials and presenting compelling strategic recommendations.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Project Leads, Project Senior Managers and Project Managers, ensuring that project teams work in alignment with the organization’s objectives and remain within the region.
  • Lead problem solving, risk leverage and mitigation, with cross-functional teams, business lines and Technology.
  • Evaluate projects progress and apply implementation controls that manage trade-offs and keep deliverables and milestones on track and on time, including proactive mitigation of project risks.
  • Manages overall program budget, and allocates budget to support projects, accomplishing funding strategy. Control project budgets and ensure that resources are allocated efficiently.
  • Synthesize findings, report regular status, and present clear recommendations and implementation plans to ensure impactful project outcomes to senior leaders within the bank, key metrics, and reviews.
  • Establish and promote a culture of continuous improvement in project management, facilitating the implementation of agile best practices and lessons learned for future projects.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education and Experience

 

  • 5 Project Managers direct reports and Countries Project Managers dotted line (According to number of projects minimum one PM per country)
  • 15 Countries supported / LATAM region / several business units supported from Business Lines, Technology, and across Value Chain.
  • Financial dimensions: capital budget allocation and projects financial control
  • Project Portfolio Management: Several Number of projects:
  • IB Software Currency, Hardware Projects, and Modernization Projects leading.
