The Director, Account Transfers & Fee Based Operations, Canadian Wealth Management Operations (CWMO) leads and oversees all operational support required for Scotia Wealth Management ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed/ delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

This position will be more specifically responsible for activities in Account Transfers and Fee Based Operations of Scotia Wealth Management business lines.

 

Accountabilities

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Develops, executes, aligns, and maintains operational strategies for Scotia Wealth Management Account Transfers and Fee Based Operations to deliver innovative, technology enabled short-, medium- and long-term business solutions to key business-driving needs.
  • Leads and motivates a team of operations specialists in the development of operational processes and integration and alignment of regulatory policies to ensure that all client accounts are in accordance.
  • Aligns Canadian Wealth Management business processes and procedures with business objectives while leveraging internal partners to improve and ensure a consistent client experience.
  • Directs strategic change to the support services offered to continuously improve the field/client experience and seeks opportunities for growth and cost reduction by exploring operational efficiencies in the business and engaging multiple support areas to carry out the business strategy.
  • Ensures efficient and cost-effective operations by developing and managing key relationships across Wealth Management and with service partners across Scotiabank.
  • Develops communication strategies and guidelines by working closely with business partners and the WealthNet and WealthLink teams to ensure access to timely information, including policies, procedures, job aids and tools.
  • Oversees the production of metrics, status updates and escalations to Senior Management, as required.
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vision/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.

 

Education and Experience

  • Superior organizational and leadership skills
  • Excellent understanding of operational processes, market practices and regulatory requirements pertaining to Wealth Management
  • Excellent oral and written communication and conflict-management skills to support a wide variety of internal stakeholders, technology partners and external vendors
  • University degree in Finance, Business or related studies
  • Demonstrated expertise in operations within the Wealth Management industry
  • 10+ years of managerial experience in a front office and/or operational group/team with a Wealth organization
  • University degree
  • High level knowledge required of numerous and diverse front and back office systems and processes.
