The Role

As a key member of the Digital Marketing Innovation team, the Web Designer will play a pivotal role in expanding Scotiabank’s website capabilities, designing SPA applications, and onboarding new digital marketing technology. Over the next twelve months, you will develop new functionality along with designing Scotiabank’s new CMS, Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). Beginning with the migration of Canadian content, you will develop scalable components for Scotiabank.com and then propagate these capabilities across thirty-seven other countries. Your expertise with React, Angular, SASS and other popular frameworks will help to accelerate component building initiatives and also guide the development team on the best approach to producing world-class applications. Our vision is to empower product managers, marketers, and branch staff to deliver superior digital experiences by ‘democratizing’ the authoring of website content and simplifying the daily tasks of those closest to the customer. Your effort will unlock this capability.

Are you the right person for this role?

  • You have previous Scotiabank experience
  • You have experience designing visual language systems for digital products and services
  • You have the ability to innovate within existing brand guidelines to build branded and creative assets for web, mobile and tablet UI
  • You can demonstrate a portfolio of work (professional and personal) which showcases your stylistic breadth, attention to detail, and which balances beauty, innovation and usability
  • You have an understanding of design principles as they apply to Web and UX platforms
  • You have expert HTML skills/knowledge of JavaScript for rapid prototyping purposes.
  • You have a high level of proficiency in Adobe CC (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop). Must have ability to edit video and ideate plus build basic but beautiful animations.
  • Prototyping (Programs like Proto.io, InVision, Marvel)
  • Animation experience is a bonus (After Effects)
  • A demonstrable history of applying design thinking tenants and user centered design principles to challenges at work or in everyday life

 

Details of the day to day:

  • Join a team of AEM designers who dedicate their time to designing website layouts, components and services that can be leveraged across 130 websites in 37 regions.
  • Embrace the agile approach to delivering products and coach others on the value of rapid prototyping
  • Bring a unique perspective to problem-solving and actively participate in ‘solutioning’ sessions.
  • Measure the productivity and perceptivity of new tools through A/B testing, virtual focus groups, and training/testing events
  • Test experiences for accessibility and inclusion. Understand these Canadian Digital Accessibility Laws and ensure all customer facing tools adhere to these guidelines.
